VMAs 2010: Taylor Swift sings ode to Kanye West while barefoot
We'll just preface this post by saying that we love Taylor Swift and have already pre-ordered her new album "Speak Now." But when the songstress took to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards stage to sing a condescending tune dedicated to Kanye West after his interruption of her Best Female Video win last year, we cringed.
Repeatedly.
She's more known for her songwriting skills than she is for successful live performances, but Swift sounded good, save for a few pitchy, breathy moments. The problem wasn't the performance but the content of the song.
"It's okay if life is a tough crowd / 32 and still growing up now / who you are is not what you did / you're still an innocent," she sang, barefoot and wearing old-Hollywood pin curls and red lipstick.
Our hearts broke for her a year ago when she nearly burst into tears on stage, but now that time has passed (with Kanye mostly staying out of the spotlight) it's time she grew a sense of humor about the whole thing. She should have gone home, had a good cry into her piles of "Fearless" money, bucked up, and moved on with her life.
Tonight, her performance was so melodramatic that we checked Wikipedia to make sure that Kanye didn't run her over with his truck after he interrupted her speech. Nope. Still just crying over an interruption.
We're pretty sure you'll get another chance to accept an award someday, Taylor. There's no need to condescend to another one of the most successful artists in the world by assuring him that he's "still growing up" and "still an innocent."
If we felt sorry for her before, we're over it now. As she should be as well.

UGH YES, CARINA. I kept hoping that it was this elaborately intelligent and witty intro to her bringing Kanye on stage and them doing something funny and touching together, but instead it just wiped out any empathy I had for her. I feel like I now know what it's like to be one of Taylor's ex-boyfriends. Like, okay, maybe she has a point, but SERIOUSLY? SERIOUSLY.
It wasn't a diss, it was saying it's fine, you're not a bad person. So no need to stir up shite.
Well the interruption, that was very public and humiliating didn't happen to you, so who are you to tell her to get over it or move on??
OMG get over it and over yourself!! Talk about still trying to milk it for all it's worth!! How embarassing! If someone gets her order wrong at a restaurant she'll write a song about it, either trashing them or "Forgiving" them! GOOD GRIEF
anyone notice that she was one of the few singers that had a close up while they sing ???? unlike usher and bieber , clearly she was actually singing while the others just lip synced
BORING!!! Predictable, self serving, a legend in her own mind! To say I'm over Taylor Swift is SUCH a understatement. PLEASE go away..you've made enough money, you've "showed" all the mean girls from your school...You've written about all your ex-boyfriends...just GO

First of all, Taylor'sperformance was BORING...she CANNOT preform and should never be given the opportunity to waste MTV air time again with her attempt to go live.
Secondly, Aziz (the actor that introduced Kayne) proved my point...IT'S FRICKIN funny now...we should laugh about it, and so should Taylor. It's not like he beat her up or anything...get over it lil girl..the world has a lot more coming to you, because that's just life...so it looks like it time for YOU to grow up and take it like a woman and move on...
ERICinHB, the only reason they did close-ups of her face was because she did absolutely NOTHING during her perfomance (besides sit there hump-back, as usual). They usually do those cloe-ups on "preformers" that do nothing.
And I don't this the song was a diss, it was just a cry for more pity and attention..."red" was right, what will she do when the real world throws other obstacles at her, keep looking for pity?
I can't stand Taylor Swift. With that being said, I was actually really impressed by how mature her song was (and that she didn't write a song that didn't sound like every single one of her other songs). I didn't think this song was a diss at all. In fact, I think that Taylor came across as being more mature and classy than the writer of this article.
