'The Nate Berkus Show' premiere: 'I'm ready to do this on my own'

Is it symbolic that Nate Berkus' new talk show, "The Nate Berkus Show," premieres Monday (Sept. 13) - the same day Oprah Winfrey launches her final season of "The Oprah Show"?

After more than 80 appearances on "Oprah" over nearly nine years, the style guru is ready to take on his own syndicated talk show.

"For me, I feel like I graduated from the best talk show host school that has ever existed on the planet," Berkus tells Zap2it. "I'm ready to do this on my own. I feel so good about the ideas we're going to do, what people are really going to see, how we're really going to be able to empower people to live better."

Berkus' show will be available to almost 95% of America and the host says that he isn't nervous at all. In fact, Winfrey told him that was a good sign, because she wasn't nervous when her show went national, as well.

While Berkus has already landed some big names like Dolly Parton and Elizabeth Edwards (whose interview he previewed for us exclusively), he says we'll be surprised by the mix of guests on the show and what he'll dish with them about.

"You're going to see sides of celebrities that you've never seen before," he says. "Whether they're connected to a passion that people didn't know about. There's going to be everyday people facing real challenges they need help overcoming or with really compelling stories that I think everyone should know about."

Berkus says if there's one thing her learned from Oprah, it's that he has a responsibility to the viewers and he doesn't take that lightly.

"There's going to a lot of new, fresh design information. That's been my challenge," Berkus explains. "I want brand new stuff out there. I want to answer the questions people really have about how to live better. If we've seen it, if we've heard it before, if the idea has been out there, you're not going to see it on the show."

Hi Nate:

Best of luck, you have certainly earned it. If you ever do a segment on designing living spaces for senior citizens, my abode is available. I look forward to many more seasons of your show. Robb

The show on KAREN the mother, sister, daughter and wife who passed away from menengitis was one of the most sincere tributes I've seen on television. Seeing this suffering family uplifted by Nate and Dolly's kindness and grace was a privilege.

To Jessica, Karen's sister, I lost my sister when she was 29 and I was 24. I have lived a lifetime without her. The loss was so profound. Jessica my deepest condolences, the great love you feel...that has no place to go right now...is a great legacy to the world. Love the world and your life with all your heart. Your beautiful sister is showing you the way to this deep source of unshakable power...your love and compassionate action in the world. May you and Karen's beautiful family walk in healing and peace.

Hello Nate.
I watched your show for the first time. You are not afraid to show your feelings and I admire that about you. I am a social worker, so if you ever need my help, I will be happy to contribute.

Sincerely,

Bita

how can I find out what time and what station it is on in Cleveland. I really want to see it.

I watched the show about KAREN and family, it was so touching. I have never asked for anything so I don't know quite how to. If there is room on one of your shows to help my grandson and his family of five. He works two jobs and they live in a one bedroom apartment. He is twenty six years old and is much older than his years. He wants a career so badly, but, he is always working and can't seem to find spare time to look for one.
He works at Dollar General and Dominoe's Pizza and please don't get me wrong, he is thankful to have these jobs, but, wants to be able to offer his family a house to move around in and to be able to spend some quality time with the family.

Thank you so much for any consideration.

Elna Green

congrats on your show. i live in richmond,va and it is not showing here, whats up with that.
