'The Amazing Race' Claire Champlin: Worst. Injury. Ever.

Forget about those dancing reality shows, "The Amazing Race" wants to take home the title for worst on-screen injury.

Racing across the world can take its toll: There's the extremes in temperature, physical tasks, unforeseen accidents. The challenges are tested for safety, but sometimes, you just can't predict what's going to happen.

Home shopping host Claire Champlin found this out the hard (very hard) way when a melon hit her in the, well, melon in a horrifying giant slingshot accident.

We can't believe that CBS replayed it so many times ... perhaps so we don't have to? Sorry, but we'd kind of hate partner Brook Roberts for giving a pep talk right after that. Let the poor woman enjoy her shock.

"The Amazing Race" returns with lovely scenes like this and more on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Holy crap! This made me cringe for realz!

that made me lolz for realz. obviously, she is ok.

That's it? Sure it would hurt, but that wouldn't even be in the top 20 list among on-screen injuries. I doubt she was even injured. You ever heard of Joe Theismann having his leg snapped in half live on Monday Night Football? Or when pro wrestler Sid Vicious suffered a legit injury jumping of the top rope and you could see his leg snap in half? Try looking at someone who has had their leg broken and bent in the opposite direction.

RE: TJ Spyke...

The article was talking about injuries on reality TV shows, not all of TV in general (though they did use the words "worst on screen injury"). So the ones you listed in your reply don't really count.

Nowhere in the article does it specify that it is the worst reality show injury (but I doubt that is true either).

Wow I have some deep thinking to do. When I read "melon" I assumed they meant chest. What is wrong with me?
