'Survivor: Nicaragua's Shannon Elkins: 'I did not bash the gay community'

Shannon Elkins was the second person voted off "Survivor: Nicaragua" and the first of the young 'uns tribe to get the boot. Find out what he has to say following his rather eyebrow-raising Tribal Council.

Are you glad you went on "Survivor"?

"Yes, ma'am. I've never been camping a day in my life, so it's kind of a neat experience for me. I never really had rice before, I'm a big beef and chicken eater. It was a neat experience. It was fun, it was cool, lot of fireworks at the end."

Was it harder than you thought it would be?

"Actually, to be honest with you, I really thought I was going to struggle without any hair gel to fix my hair, but I did fine. That and wiping my a** when I took a dump. I'm sorry if that's disgusting. That's another thing I was really nervous about, pooing out there. But after day 2, when you're all dirty and stink you're like I might as well rock it."

What would you do differently if you could go back?

"I actually wouldn't do anything different, to be honest with you. I went out there and I was Shannon. Tell you like it is, straight-forward shooter. I don't think I would really change anything. I might have change the fact that I listened to all of Chase's bull**** about honesty and integrity, but I knew Brenda had his balls in a pocket, so that's my downfall. I knew he was a good guy, but he thought he was on 'The Bachelor.' I don't think he realized. He thought we were giving out roses that night and Brenda is prettier than me, so I don't blame him with sticking with her. I was a big threat and they got off the biggest threat."

How do you respond to the conflict with Sash about his being gay and the NYC vs. Louisianan comment?

"Number one: I'm not a homophobe. Number two: I'm not a sexist. And number three: I did not bash the gay community. What happened was I knew that I was going home whenever I went into Tribal. Chase changed the vote on me and I had no fighting chance. I knew Sash didn't really like any of us. I knew he wanted his minority alliance and all that good stuff. He wasn't one of the votes I needed. I knew I was going home, so I called Chase out and Sash keeps butting in and you know the editing, he kept butting in. I said I knew you were lying when you said you weren't gay. He was acting gay, I called him what I thought he was. I didn't bash that.

All I was trying to do is say Chase is a liar and Sash can't even tell us who he really is as a person, so who are you going to go with, me, someone who's been straightforward the whole time, or a guy who is a liar or a guy who can't even tel us what he is? I don't care what Sash does in his spare time, but I wanted to show that the guy was a liar. If he can't even be honest with who he is ... you might lie about where you live, or what you do, but you as a person? Why lie about it? Say who you really are. I never just point-blanked asked him, I stereotyped the guy and I apologize for stereotyping. They stereotype us down in the South and I stereotyped someone from New York. It had been six days, I stunk, I hadn't really had any sleep, I wanted to eat some food and the guy kept on coming at me, coming at me, coming at me and I snapped."

Do you think La Flor can rally together or are they falling apart?

"I think La Flor can rally together. I think I was their biggest physical attribute, but as far now, I don't foresee any physical challenges coming, so they don't need any physical people. They can rally."

Who were you rooting for once you got voted off?

"Of course, Alina was my home girl, she had my back. But you always want the person who beat you. You always want to lose to the best. I lost to Chase and Brenda and more to Brenda, so I'm rooting for Brenda to win it all. For the young tribe that is, but the older tribe's got some pretty cool characters over there that I'd like to see pull it out."
