'Smallville': Teri Hatcher to play Lois Lane's mother

durance-hatcher.jpg"Smallville" has a long history of bringing back familiar faces from throughout the franchise, and they've added to their list. Teri Hatcher of "Desperate Housewives" has inked a deal to play Lois Lane's (Erica Durance) mother in the final season of the show, the studio confirms to Zap2it.

Hatcher, who played Lois herself on "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" in the 1990s, will appear in Episode 8, "Abandoned."

This adds Ella Lane to the list of dead parents resurrected in Season 10 -- the late Jonathan Kent (John Schneider) and Lionel Luthor (John Glover) are also slated to return. Ella, however, will appear in a slightly different capacity when Lois discovers some old home movies.

Though it's been 13 years since Hatcher dabbled in the Superman franchise, we're sure she'll slip right back in with ease. Botox or no botox.

This is amazing casting!

AMAZING!! Erica and Teri are the BEST Lois Lanes EVER!

Mother? More like grandmother!

Finally SMALLVILLE. . . .! Smallville has brought almost everyone from the Superman myths and special appearances except for two people. Ther Are Terri Hatcher (Lois Lane - in the 90's superman tv series) & the one and only Gene Hackman (Lex Luthor)from the first 4 Superman Films with Christopher Reeve.
All I can say is yes, it's about time, one down aone to go. come on Gene Hackman full fill your desrtiny.
Smallville is the greatest show on earth. the best there is, the Best that ever will be!

This is indeed amazing! And yes, having Gene Hackman in the show would be a fitting send off for this show on its final season.

I've enjoyed the casting on this show the last several years way more than the show itself. The plots, acting, and dialog have gotten worse as time goes on, but their guest-casting has been a geek's dream.

I think I'll stick it out for the final season, (especially since Lionel (and possibly Lex?) is coming back) but this is one show I'll be happy to say goodbye to.

@Ethan - you're a moron!!!

It surprises me that viewers and critics alike seem to take Tom Welling completely for granted, for he has created the most engaging portrayal of the ultimate outside, the awkward, vulnerable, earnest and empathetic observer of the human coming of age that has ever been allowed to unfold on the screen. Smallville would not have lasted past its first season if Tom Welling had not nailed the subtle, sensitive, genuinely engagin persona that is Clark. We've been fortunate to be able to watch this happen. Maybe he's been too good for the TV audience to appreciate. Thank you Tom Welling. You have enriched my enjoynment and given me a tine long run of pleasure. I wish you all good things in your future. NES

golden globes!! i'll tell you who got golden globes, lois in smallville, thats who
