Oprah's network takes on 'The View,' 'Community' plans Twittersode
The latest TV news, in easy snack-sized form."Survivor" creator Mark Burnett has signed on to produce a daily talk show for OWN, Oprah Winfrey's cable network that debuts in January 2011. Burnett is also producing "Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star," which announced its hosts Nancy O'Dell and Carson Kressley Monday [The New York Post]
In more Oprah news, the talk show host is lending her voice to the season premiere of "Sesame Street" in an animated segment called "The O Show." The host will welcome guests Otto the Orangutan and Ophelia the Octopus. "Sesame Street" debuts its 41st season on Sept. 27 on PBS. Other celebrities taking part during the season include Wanda Sykes, Jason Bateman, Colin Farrell and Katy Perry. [Sesame Street]
"Community" is airing a first-ever Twittersode. Just prior to the East Coast premiere, an exclusive "Twittersode," comprised of 80 tweets, will unfold between the characters. Lyle Lovett, country singer and former beau of Julia Roberts, has signed on to play Agent Darryl Shafer, a shadowy government figure who detains and interrogates Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) on an upcoming episode of "Castle." [EW]
Tina Fey joins host Andy Cohen in the Bravo clubhouse in this extra funny edition of "Watch What Happens: Live" airing Thursday, Sept. 30 at 10p.m. ET [Bravo TV]
TNT is reportedly announcing Wednesday (Sept. 22) that "HawthoRNe" is getting a 10-episode Season 3 pickup. The medical drama stars Jada Pinkett Smith and will join other TNT shows "The Closer," "Rizzoli & Isle," "Leverage" and "Memphis Beat" as 2011 pick-ups. "Dark Blue" is the only show still awaiting its fate. [Deadline]
