'Oprah' reuniting 'The Sound of Music' cast for the first time in nearly 50 years
The hills are alive with "The Sound of Music" -- Oprah Winfrey is reuniting the entire cast on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Friday, Oct. 29. We say -- Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo!The reunion will include stars Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, plus Charmian Carr (Liesl), Nicolas Hammond (Friedrich), Heather Menzies-Urich (Louisa), Duane Chase (Kurt), Angela Cartwright (Brigitta), Debbie Turner (Marta) and Kym Karath (Gretl). The cast will share secrets from the set and reminisce about their time together. The show will also welcome the real-life Von Trapp children to pay special tribute to the movie cast.
Furthermore, for the first time since 1973, "The Sound of Music" heads back into theaters nationwide to commemorate the 45th anniversary. It will be broadcast to nearly 500 movie theaters for a two-night-only engagement Tuesday, Oct. 19 and Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. local time.
We're kind of bummed Eleanor Parker (The Baroness) and Daniel Truhitte (Rolfe) weren't invited to the show, but it still has a few of our favorite things. Consider our calendars marked.

Didn't the cast already reunite on T.V. a few years ago? I thought I remembered seeing something on YouTube of the cast together on The Today Show.
It was pretty cool seeing all the actors together again, particularly those who seemed to leave the spotlight such as Charmian Carr. I don't think I ever saw or heard anything about her after The Sound of Music. The more I think about it, I don't recall if the Today Show segment I'm remembering included Christopher Plummer.
This might be the one and only time I watch Oprah. Even I can't resist seeing the entire Von Trapp family together again...
I visited the Von Trapp Family lodge and land up in Stowe, Vermont in May. How glorious is that place! They built it in 1947 because when they got there it looked like their beloved Alps, and it does! very nice
This should be interesting as Plummer hasn't always been complimentary to the movie in interviews.
The last time Oprah was surrounded by this many white people was when she got arrested for insighting a riot at a voters booth...She was trying to intimidate ytee

BLAH !!!! I'd rather watch a reunion of the cast of To Sir, with Love
It'll be interesting to see what Christopher Plummer has to say. In the past he's been quite outspoken that the movie is hardly one of his favorites among the many he has made over the years. In fact, he says he likes to refer to it as The Sound of Mucas. Ouch.
I hope Oprah invites Elanor Parker and Daniel Truhitte as well. They had major and memorable roles in the movie. My family and I love their characters too!!! I have bought a copy of the movie from Betamax, VHS, VCD to DVD version. I watch the movie everytime I just want to smile - something sweet and full of positive things. Hollywood does not make these kind of movies anymore. It's a classic!
