'No Ordinary Family' preview: 'Just think like something that can fly'

"No Ordinary Family" is the new superhero family show from ABC starring Michael Chiklis ("The Shield") and Julie Benz ("Dexter") as Jim and Stephanie Powell, whose plane crashes in the Amazon along with their two children Daphne and JJ (Kay Panabaker and Jimmy Bennett). Following the crash, with the help of their friends George (Romany Malco, "Weeds") and Katie (Autumn Reeser, "Entourage"), the Powells discover their "Incredibles"-esque superpowers. Chiklis' Jim Powell hopes it will bring the family closer together, while helping him do some good in the world.
Zap2it's own Rick Porter enjoys the superhero origin story of the pilot and says the family that's unraveling half needs work, but there's hope for a cohesive show. Watch the sneak peek clips below and tell us what you think.
"No Ordinary Family" premieres Tuesday night (Sept. 28) at 8 p.m. ET on ABC

Here's to hoping this show can become what Heroes could have been, but never achieved...
The problem with Heroes was the show tried to be a half-dozen series rolled into one. As long as they just stick to the core family and don't start adding a cast so large you need a phone book to keep track of them all, they should be fine. Unfortunately I found that first clip rather dull. I hope they get to stuff like that second clip fairly quickly or they'll lose people fast.
