'Glee': John Stamos makes his debut as Dr. Carl, raising expectations of dentists everywhere

stamos-on-john-stamos-glee-02-320.jpgThis week's episode of "Glee" might have been called "Britney/Brittany" but let's not forget the episode's other (and if you ask me, subtler-yet-also-brighter) shining star, John Stamos.  And who better to critique/review/laud/examine the artist-formerly-known-as Uncle Jesse and his glorious debut than me, the other Stamos. So for the introduction of Dr. Carl, the superhero anesthesia-happy dentist stealing the hearts of Gleeks everywhere, let's apply the 'Stam-O-s-Meter' (patent pending) to a few extra Stamos-y highlights from the episode.

Hair
Sorry Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) but next to Stamos, arguably the most attractive man to pull off salt-n-pepper locks since George Clooney, your over-gelled mop screams 90s boy-band.

Clothes
We already knew Stamos could pull off scrubs thanks to his time on "ER," but damn, he does the buttoned-down, rolled-up cuffs look quite well. Although, what he really needs is a leather jacket.

One-liners
His enthusiastic "I'll give you a 100 toothbrushes" was expertly-delivered gem but "you gotta get ridiculous, bro" may have been the second coming of Uncle Jesse, himself.

Singing
That snippet of him "gumming" was not nearly enough. This is a Broadway sensation, people! The front-man for Uncle Jesse and the Rippers! The guy is practically a national treasure! Pass him a mic!

Wild Card Category
Perfect 10

Overall Stam-O-s-Meter score?
I think it's safe to say John Stamos has raised expectations of dentists everywhere. Dr. Carl is like a superhero - no wonder Emma is smitten. I'd say his debut performance garners him a final score of: 'Cool as a Cucumber' Stamos.

Now, it could have been the Britney Spears Factor, it could be that the show is finding its groove again, but I like to think it was the Stamos Factor that made this one of the greatest episodes of "Glee" to date.  Wait, who am I kidding? I'm going to go ahead and say that John Stamos is one of the best things to happen to our TV screens so far this young television season. Quite simply, Stamos is The Man.

What do you think? Did Stamos make you want to "do things that feel good for no reason?" If you had your own 'Stamos-o-Meter' how would you rank him?  And in case you're still wondering who made me the authority on all things Stamos, in the words of Rachel Berry, "I look forward to the day the paparazzi provokes me and I attack them."

Love John Stamos. And so happy to that Emma moved on with Dr. Carl. I like Will, but he has a lot of growing up to do. I'm so looking forward to the Rocky Horror Picture Show homage show because we'll get to see Dr. Carl sing and dance! Whoohoo!

what a witty and unique post. both stamos are 'the man'

Would it be too much to ask to have Dr. Carl sing Forever from Full House to Emma? On second thought, she'd never be able to give him up after that. On third shot, why do we want her to again? lol

He's a 10--and-a-half! Can't wait to hear him sing!

Soooo happy John Stamos is on one of my favorite TV shows! It's a win-win. Can we keep him? Seriously, can we??

I absolutely LOVE his addition to Glee! I can't wait for more of him!!!!!!!!! ;)

Great idea I love the Stamos Meter. Keep up the good work Zap2it. You're my favorite TV site on the web now.

The episode was kinda all over the place: Britney numbers (exc 4 Toxic) were video karaoke (but well done) and didn't care that they made Shue regress to a dorky jealous character, but really liked that they made Dr Carl a cool, likable character who was very honest and honorable with Will when they easily could've took the easy route and made him the adult version of the "cool guy have it all high school guy" too bad they didn't do that with Shue... Perhaps they will take himn there over the course of the season, but Dr Carl is a great addition to the cast of characters.
