Fighting Gravity should skate to finals on 'America's Got Talent'
Is there any doubt Fighting Gravity will make the Top 10 of "America's Got Talent"? We don't think there is -- they got a standing ovation from the audience and heaps of praise from the judges. Curmudgeon judge Piers Morgan even called them original and fresh. In fact, conventional wisdom might say it'll come down to a final 2 fight between Fighting Gravity and 10-year-old opera singer Jackie Evancho. Both acts are very talented and both are very different.
What were your favorite semi-final acts? We thought this week's group wasn't as strong as it should have been, considering who was in it. We particularly hoped for more out of Murray the magician.
Watch Fighting Gravity's performance below. "America's Got Talent" airs Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.

jackie evancho sings opera like a woman although she's only ten years old. as peirce morgan said, there are several stars on the show, but she is a super star.she is the most exciting singer they've ever had on the show.if you want to be amazed, tune in tomorrow for the results show.
The only issue with Jackie Evancho winning is that the grand prize is the winner having hteir own show at a Las Vegas casino. How many casinos are willing to spend money and time nor onlt ptoducing a show for but promoting a pre-teen opera singer. Also, will they consider her to be a big audience draw?
None of these acts are going to pack in an audience in Las Vegas for an hour and a half. Ten of the best acts might. They need to get rid of the "Las Vegas" theme, and just make it a talent show. If somebody in Vegas wants to hire 'em after the show...so be it. Also...they don't need the buzzers after they reach the semifinals. The judges can't eliminate anyone at that point. It's up to the public vote. The buzzers are pointless, rude, and distracting to the performers. The judges can make comments when the act is done, just like Idol, SYTYCD, DWTS, etc.
My picks from last night?
Alice Tan Ridley
MIchael Lipari and Ashleigh Dejon
Grasso
Fighting Gravity
Jackie Evancho
Jeremy Vanschoonhoven
Remember Andrea, if I remember correctly that usually the last 2 acts facing judges are 4th and 5th in the voting. Those two can't be 4th and 5th could they?
Not Alice!!!!
I think Alice, Jackie and Gravity are the stone-cold locks for the top 10.
One of the magic acts SHOULD be as well but I'm afraid they'll split the "magic" vote and neither will wind up with enough votes. Maybe one ends up in the judges' choice.
My brain still registers "Does Not Compute" when it gets the visual signal from the eyes and the audio signal from the ears when Jackie sings. Just amazing, all the same.
I think Jeremy has a real shot, despite his early hiccup on the park benches. I feared that would draw the auto-buzz from Piers since he's stated that acrobats, jugglers, etc., get the buzz as soon as they drop something or otherwise mess up. If he can ignore that, America should as well.
In this semi-final round, the judges' pick is between the #5 and #6 vote-getters.
Mokie said what I thought about these acts for a while. Many of them together would make a fantastic travelling variety show that can fill 75-90 minutes. Very few have shown they can be the lone act that can do that amount of time and warrant a ticket in the $50 range.
For me...
Fighting Gravity
Jackie Evancho
Grasso
Alice Tan Ridley
leaving a 4/5 showdown between
Michael and Ashleigh
Jeremy Vanschoonhoven
I think the buzzers should stay, as evidenced by that youtube woman who murdered Pokerface. (Although personally I thought she murdered the Carrie Underwood song too, but still got through.)
I say shame on the parents for putting their 10 year old daughter, Jackie, on America's Got Talent. Jackie has much better selective opportunities ahead of her. However, Jackie is the only contestant most likely to live long enough to collect the AGT Millon Dollar prize which takes 40 years to pay out.
