'Desperate Housewives': The neighborhood is looking mighty fine
ABC has been baiting us all summer with amazing casting announcements for the seventh season of "Desperate Housewives." Viewers and critics were thrilled with the idea that The Lane would be getting the shot in the arm it needed. Did they pull it off?
We learned that Mark Moses was returning to reprise his role as Paul Young last season, but since then Vanessa Williams and Brian Austin Green signed on. Not to mention, tonight's big treats: Harriet Sansom Harris as Felicia Tilman and Lainie Kazan as Susan's (Teri Hatcher) entrepreneurial landlord.
- Paul Young's return in the premiere episode is exceptionally strong. His storyline is tight and makes every sense in the show's world. The best part about it is that he is very clear that his motive is to punish his neighbors for not supporting him during his trial and subsequent decade or so he was in prison. You know when The Lane's big bad is quick to disclose his intentions, then there's going to be much more to the storyline. And that "much more's" name is Felicia Tilman. Did anyone else think that was a genius new layer to Paul's story? Who do you think will accomplish their evil plan first?
- Brian Austin Green didn't have much to do, but look hunky in a tank top. We do think the writing was very good in setting up Orson (Kyle MacLachlan) and Bree's (Marcia Cross) separation, so that Green's character, Keith the contractor, can enter the show seamlessly. When Bree realized he may be a nice distraction for her and gave him that look? Priceless. Go ahead, get your cougar on, Bree!
- We saved the best for last (hehe): Williams' Renee Perry. Renee didn't enter with guns blazing as the ABC promos depicted, but she was still quite a breath of fresh air. Just when her verbal sparring with Lynette (Felicity Huffman) began to grow tiresome, the writers moved Renee in a more serious direction. Her marriage is on the rocks and she had nowhere else to go. That scene was both touching and comedic and anyone with a longtime friend could understand that relationships can be equal parts loving and competitive.
Other OMG moments:
- Poor Juanita Solis (Madison de La Garza), who it was disclosed was the baby switched at birth. She's our favorite kid on the block and to think there's a possibility by the end of the season that she may be gone.
- We're not feeling Susan living off The Lane. Producers, move her back. Stat! (please)
- Hello, Carlos (Ricardo Chavira). Lookin' good, sir.
Overall, we thought it was a well-played premiere. Was it good for you?

don't like the idea that brian austin green is on this show, don't feel no connection with Bree and him. HE does not look sexy in any way shape or form PLEASE do something!!! he doesn't even have a deep sexy voice, HELP! everything else is PERFECT.
agree with all you said and HELLO CARLOS! Exception:Brian Austin Green has always been plain ugly to me and using his middle name and adding tattoos does nothing to enhance him. Besides he's kind of borderline peda..well you do the math between his wife and he. A little annoyed Williams is the same character as she is on "UGLY Betty".
Brian Austin Green was brilliant and a great addition to the show and so was Vanessa Williams.
Brian's character Keith didn't have much to say as they were dealing with Bree and Orson closure but wait and see.
I wouldn't be surprise, if he gets more involved with Paul Young drama somehow.
I feel the above comments are directed to Brian because he's married to Megan Fox.
It's Megan choice the type of guy she wants and she picked him for a reason and he's HOT.
The age difference means nothing to them and has nothing to do with Desperate Housewives unless your talking about Bree's age difference to Keith about 10 years.
BAG is sexy as hell especially for his age and I'm loving his bad boy look i.e. tats. A solid actor that will step up with each show.
He 100% has chemistry with Bree. Marcia Cross has even spoken about this.
It's still early stages but I'm excited for the show (PAUL YOUNG YEAH) and for BAG just give him a chance to shine.
This has nothing to do with Megan Fox, 90210 etc it's NOW that counts.
Saying that, he made a huge difference in his previous roles with TSCC (Derek Reese) and Smallville (Metallo).
Again, judge him as Keith Watson only (give him time).
He won Megan Fox heart and surprised everyone; bet he surprises again on Desperate Housewives if you are open to the idea.
I'm not feeling BAG either. Didn't like him on 90210 and still don't like him. Heck, even when he was a kid and on
Snots Landing I couldn't stand him. But I can see how some people are attracted to him. Heck, even the ugly people need to be loved..:)
Overall I liked the premiere and am looking forward to the season. However, I'm still a little confused with the whole Susan and Mike story line. What happened to all the money she got from the stipclub Karl left her and she sold? Did I miss something and she somehow lost that money? And how does renting out their house and then renting a cheap apt help their finances? If they still hold a note on the house are they really making enough on the lease to cover that and rent? And if the house is paid for wouldn't it have been cheaper to stay there then renting an apt? And so now Susan is selling homemade jewelry. What happened to her job at her brats school? I'm just not really feeling that story line at all.
LOVED IT! From the return of creepy Paul to having Vanessa Williams, the episode had drama, sadness, and the laugh-out-loud moment of premier week w/ Tom overhearing the news of Lynette's threesome in college! Welcome back DH!
I think Susan used that money to help pay some of Mike's debt but it didn't cover all.
Ew though at the missing fingered woman who is now in prison.
I feel bad about Gabby's daughter but I have to say Carlos looks hot without his goatee.
this was my 1st season ever and i looved it!!
well, i dont know about Brian very much. But I think he have the Mike-Delfino-look somehow, and thats manly xxx. Love the way he said Bree will look smoking hot ... So, let 's give him a chance.
Really, I just cant wait to know what will Felicia do to Paul ... Felicia has always been my favorite character. So brilliant and devil .
I dont like Carlos's new look. He has always looked so adorable and cute in that beard. Now he just look serious and ... old >.
I don't like BAG on the show either,he and Bree don't have any chemistry and he acts so bad and boring,I hope he'll leave the show soon.Actually he acts like David Silver.

Have to agree with many of you,don't like Brian on the show,it looks like he doesn't fit there,doesn't act good for me,just simply pathetic.
A good choice for Vanessa Williams and Emily Bergl!
