'Boardwalk Empire' premiere: What'd you think?

steve-buscemi-boardwalk-empire-320.jpgWe're already sold on "Boardwalk Empire," but we're curious to know what you think about HBO's big new series.

The premiere covered a heck of a lot of ground in introducing us to Prohibition-era Atlantic City, N.J., and its kingpin, Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi). Writer Terence Winter seemed to acknowledge that at one point as federal agent Van Alden's (Michael Shannon) bewildered new partner had trouble keeping track of who was who in Nucky's gangster/bootlegger world.

We confess that we could've used a lineup card to keep track of everyone as well, but despite that, there was a great deal to enjoy in the series debut. Among the high points: the relationship between Nucky and his ambitious underling Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt); Jimmy and a young Al Capone's (Stephen Graham) off-the-cuff conversation about their business while their bosses were inside; and Martin Scorsese's direction, particularly the cutting back and forth between Van Alden's raid on the funeral parlor/liquor operation and Jimmy and Al stealing the New York-bound liquor shipment.

What were your thoughts on the premiere? Will you be sticking around?

Boardwalk Empire was... Well ok. Its to bad the HBO board isn't hopping as much as... Well will see soon.

Well I enjoyed it. Loved the costumes, the music and the 1920's scenery. I did chuckle at the feds conversation that you mentioned above.

And as you also mentioned, I was a bit confused as to who was who, but I did figure out the feds were not going to be where the liquor shipment was being hijacked.

I'll be sticking around to watch this one for awhile.

I enjoyed the whole show but.....The opening. I was really looking for something more 20s, Jazz Age. the song felt like an opening to something about the 60s.

I felt it was a good setup. I'm sure the season will be MUCH more exciting than this episode. Will definitely be sticking around.

I liked it very much, I was an extra in the boxing scenes, all of my scenes were cut sad to say.

It was EXCELLENT!

loved it. i figure steve b. will end up with the preg woman

loved the music

PHENOMINAL> LOVED EVERY MINUTE AND THE HONESTY OFIT> NO HOLDS BARRED. Having grown up in Phila w summers in AC and in my 60's i remember a lot and can assoc with AC along withe the memoriew of my parents Cant wait fror next epissode. hope its a long series. thanks

Story kept your interest, really felt transported to that time period. At first I thought Michael Pitt's character Jimmy was Nucky's other brother. That could have made a good story line being three brothers.
