Emmys 2010

Which show should win outstanding drama series? Vote!

emmys-best-drama.jpgIf either "The Good Wife" or "Lost" wins the Emmy for outstanding drama series, it will break a mini-slump for the broadcast networks.

No broadcast show has won the top drama prize since 2006, when "24" won the Emmy. The last three years have belonged to cable, first with the final season of "The Sopranos" in 2007 and then with "Mad Men" for the past two years.

"Mad Men" is nominated again this year, but it may not even be the first choice from its own network: Fellow AMC series "Breaking Bad" had an outstanding third season in the spring, and it has a fairly decent shot at taking the prize despite its rather dark subject matter.

"True Blood" also broke through with its first nomination in the category, but it might be a little too risque for some in the TV academy. Ditto for "Dexter," which scored its third straight nomination this year but has yet to score any wins in the marquee categories featured in the Primetime Emmy broadcast. (John Lithgow did pick up an Emmy for outstanding guest actor in a drama at last weekend's Creative Arts awards.)

So, we ask you in our final Emmy poll: Which of those six shows should win for best drama? Will a cable show keep the string alive, or can broadcast break through again? Vote below and share your thoughts in the comments.

Lost is so over, let's vote for the best show on TV, Breaking Bad. You must watch this show if you haven't. It's well worth catching up with if you watch the previous seasons, I promise you won't be disappointed, no matter what your age.

It should go to Dexter for being ridiculously intense last season. The whole idea of Dexter exploring the facade put up by a monster just like him was done to near perfection. Oh and Jon Lithgow actually managed to steal the show from Michael C. Hall, which I always thought would be impossible.

But I fully expect Lost to take everything despite being pretty down until the finale. The fact that Michael Emerson was nominated when Ben was only Ben-like for like 3 hours all season is a good indicator of that.

I think Dexter truly deserves this award. This season was amazing like no other. No other show matches up.

The Good Wife for sure. Such an amazing show. The whole cast is talented and brilliant.

I gave it to "Dexter", though "Breaking Bad" is a close second. "Mad Men" was great, but...liked these shows better in their seasons. "Lost" was inconsistent but good. And "Good Wife" isn't nearly as good as the critic falling over themselves to praise it think it is.

I really enjoyed Lost's final seasons but clearly the voters in this poll don't have a diverse viewing schedule since the two AMC show's that are probably the favorites to win are the bottom two from this poll. They deserve to be the favorites though Dexter is a dark horse as well. I'm pulling for the 3-peat on Mad Men, let's go Don Draper!

I love that the three shows I watch are winning. LOST FTW!!! I love you too True Blood, but let's face it, you deserve it more for this year than for last... And Dexter, well I haven't seen all of last season yet. That is all.
