'Vampire Diaries' Season 2: A first look at 'The Return'

vampire-diaries-katherine-s.jpgWhen I traveled to Atlanta for Zap2it's exclusive visit to the set of "The Vampire Diaries," I got a sneak peek of the season premiere, "The Return" -- and now you can have one, too. The CW has released the first production stills from Season 2, featuring Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev, and Michael Trevino.

The first images feature Elena patching up a nasty wound on Stefan's stomach (gratuitous ab-flashing, hell-o). Fans at Comic-Con who saw the special Season 2 trailer may have a pretty good idea of who inflicted it. Ouch! Elena is done playing nurse when Damon interrupts their moment for one of the Salvatore brothers' famous love-hate arguments.

Next, you'll get a first glimpse of Nina Dobrev as Katherine in Season 2. Sure, you can only see her from behind, but you can still get a good idea of just how awesome she looks. I can't give away much, but I can say that when Dobrev goes into a trailer as Elena and comes back out as Katherine, it's a little bit like Sandy's transformation at the end of "Grease." Electrifying!

Finally, we see Tyler, whose volatile temper is even more unpredictable as he mourns the death of his father -- and the town Mayor. We're calling it now: Trevino is going to be huge this year!

It should be noted that was almost 100 degrees and sticky-humid in Atlanta while these scenes were shot. The "Vampire Diaries" kids make it look good, don't they?

Damon and Elena getting closer, friendship getting deeper, Elena getting more-than-friendly-feeling for Damon like he has for her.

Damon and Alaric bromance

Damon being a big brother figure to Jeremy

Katherine being awesomely kickass and kicks Bonnie's *** and show her who is BOSS - VAMPIRES! Oh yeah!

Stefan and Katherine rekindling their romance would be interesting especially considering how Stefan never seemed to come clean and out with his Katherine-issues. He said he never loved her, but I know that isnt true. Stefan told Katherine he loved her BEFORE she compelled him and he never admitted his love for her like Damon did. Issues ;)

Cant wait for it all! :D

I wish Bonnie and Stefan would get together. I really don't like either of these characters so just stick those two together. Yay!! Problem solved. You are welcome!

I'm excited to see Katherine. She's gonna be so bada$$. I'm also looking forward to how they're gonna tackle the werewolf aspect of the show without it being cheesy. They haven't let me down yet, so I'm really not worried. I'd also like to see more Jeremy.....and shirtless to boot. He is a gorgeous man. This summer flew by. I cannot believe there's less than a month until season 2! So stoked!

Katherine dumps Damon; Elena comforts him. Stefan says he doesn't want Katherine, but cant help himself; Damon comforts Elena. Damon and Elena get a little too friendly. Bonnie rolls her eyes and sharpens some stakes. Tyler growls at inappropriate moments. And scene.

i want to see what the werewolves look like when there turned i hope they kinda look like Van halen ones

and i actually hope bonnie kicjs some ***, come on shes the witch!

and i hope elena gets more tough and face off katherine without being afraid

I hope there will be the part where Katherine and Elena will be together.Wonder what will it look like.Maybe Tyler will turn into a werewolf when he's at the cemetery in the morning.Damon and Elena are SUCH a great couple.Their ,like,for real.

I cant wait for this season to start! I really hope that Elena and Katherine meet.and how Damon and Stefan would react to that. I have a feeling that this will be a GREAT season

OMG! I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOOO FREAKING EXCITED FOR THE SECOND SEASON. And I haven't even seen the trailer for season 2 yet, but I don't need to see it to know who hurts Stefan's stomach because I already know who does it! And I can't wait to see the werewolves!!!
