TV Ratings: 'Big Brother' pushes CBS to Sunday night victory
Fast National ratings for Sunday, August 1, 2010Another sleepy Sunday of reruns helped "60 Minutes" and a new episode of "Big Brother" win the night for CBS in total viewers and tie FOX for strongest showing in adults 18-49.
CBS averaged 6.2 million viewers and a 4.0 rating/7 share in households, easily topping closest competition ABC (4.2 million, 2.6/5). NBC (3.9 million, 2.5/4) came in third, with FOX (3.5 million, 2.0/4) just behind it.
FOX and CBS led the way in the 18-49 demo, each scoring a 1.6 rating. ABC followed with a 1.1, and NBC came in last with a 0.9.

CBS: "60 Minutes"(7.8 million viewers, 5.1/10 households)
ABC: "America's Funniest Home Videos" rerun (6.2 million, 3.5/7)
NBC: "Dateline" (3.1 million, 2.0/4)

CBS must be proud: A nearly 50 year old news magazine is #1 for the night. A bottom of the barrel , very low budget reality show wins its slot. And CBS wins the overall night by a wide margin. CBS is the least creative or exciting network on television and America has embraced them.

60 Minutes began in '68 (or wuz it '69? Let's call it '68 so at least it's closer to your mistake), making it 42. That makes it closer to 40 than to 50.
Also, just what, exactly, is intrinsically wrong with a show that's been on for 42 years? Are you saying that because it's been around that long, it automatically sucks? That's just patently ridiculous.

60 minutes is a boring, badly done version of the great World News with the GREAT Diane Swayer. Sad how 60 Minutes is even called news, its more old reality fare.
So true ****, once Diane left 60 minutes it became dull. Miss her on Prime Time and GMA. She is by far the best female newscaster.
i cant believe big brother is getting high ratings..this is one of the worse bb in its 11 yr history..they are living off bb11 which was excellent
CBS aka Crime Broadcasting Station airs more hours of dreary procedurals than any other network. Next season they are planning to air a new Dance competition. As if we don't have enough of that on already!! CBS has the least originality of any network. What drives me crazy is they get good ratings no matter what they put on. If Big Brother was on NBC it would be a flop.
Its nasty Jackie Chan, she has the old man buying rating for her, funny how miss old thing, thinks she is some hot mtv vj, doing a teen show. sad, Jackie things at her old age she is America's sweathart 4ever teenager Diane Swayer.
yes--i love big brother but this is the worst cast in the show's history.
