'The Vampire Diaries': Our burning Season 2 questions

One thing I love about "The Vampire Diaries" is that questions don't tend to go unanswered for long. We're not going to wait six seasons to discover why they're on the island, if you catch my drift. Of course, that doesn't mean we aren't left with a few cliffhangers here and there. The Season 1 finale was a game-changer.
I thought I'd compile some of the questions that I (and all my Twitter friends!) have about the Mystic Falls ensemble before Season 2 premieres on September 9th. If I missed any, be sure to chime in below in the comments section. I love hearing your thoughts.
How did Pearl (Kelly Hu) and Anna (Malese Jow) become vampires? Anna's death certainly served its purpose in pushing Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) over the edge into full-on teen-angst pill-popping blood-drinking, but I'm really going to miss Malese Jow on the show -- it was always fun to watch Anna toy with Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Though these lovely vamps are dead and gone, their pasts still remain a mystery. I hope to see them return in flashbacks and to get some insight into who turned them -- and, particularly, if one of them turned the other.
Why didn't Grayson Gilbert's ring save his life in the car crash? If Grayson Gilbert was wearing his magical ring when his car went into the river, why didn't he come back to life? Does water disable the ring? It's like a cheap watch. After he died, how did Uncle John get his hands on it?
What, exactly, is the connection between Katherine and Elena (Nina Dobrev)? We know that vampires can't procreate, so it's unlikely that Elena is a direct descendant of Katherine. Plus, the many, many generations between them would make their identical appearances highly unlikely. Has Katherine developed some kind of cloning technology? She's had a lot of years to experiment.
Why did Stefan (Paul Wesley) stop drinking human blood? He says that he "has his reasons" for going on the squirrel diet, but we know exactly nothing about Stefan's life between 1864 and 2009, except that he did a stint as a college boy for a while. There are 150 years of Salvatore hijinks to look into - let's see them!
Who turned Katherine, and when? How old is this chick, anyway? Damon became who he is today as a direct result of Katherine turning him and breaking his heart. So who caused all of her damage?
Why is Emily (Bianca Lawson) so loyal to Katherine? If Katherine saved Emily's life at some point in the past, I want details.It seems more likely that Katherine put Emily in peril in the first place, and then "saved" her to keep her on the hook for favors for all eternity.
Plus: How much did the Gilberts know about their adopted daughter's heritage? What has Katherine been up to for the last century or so? Will Tyler's wolf transformation turn him into a basketball star? Why didn't Sheriff Forbes dose her daughter with vervain when the entire Secret Society of Vampire Hunters got the goods? And, most importantly, what's going to happen to Matt?

If vampires can't procreate, then who is buried in the Salvatore family crypt? And where did those Salvatore "uncles" come from?
I'm not sure about something, the ring that were john gilbert was from grayson gilbert? And if it was that ring couldn't save him, because the ring only protect you from creatures of the night... not just a simple ring i guess... and it doesn't protect you from natural deaths
First of all I think that the ring can save you ONLY If you get killed by a supernatural creture. A dark force or something. Grayson died in a car accident.As for a question. Yes you missed something.
Will we see Damon and Elena together as a couple? Please say yes.
What I want to know is if Jeremy is adopted too. Because they never really said anything else about him or if he was adopted or if his biological parents were Grayson and his wife.
the reason why grayson did die was cause a supernatuarl ceature diddnt make the car crash they went off a bridge then died the ring only protects them from vampires and stuff not by humans killing you or accidents right? correct me if im rong.but any way i like stefan i guess but damon is better sorry. damon and elena are so cute together do you see how damon looks at her with the "eye thing" he does haha damon will never lie to elena but we all now that she ends up with stefan like bella goes with edward but i like bella with edward better than jacob sorry again but in TVD diffret story after i saw the comic con preview i was second guessing bout the elena stefan thing. damon probly going to go for elena more since kat like totally dumped him. poor damon. I LOVE VAMPIRE DIARIES DELENA 4 EVA!!!

Actually, I think John took Grayson's ring and gave it to Isobel (after Elena was born and they went their separate ways), who gave it to Alaric. Why would I say that? Because the parents had died in the car crash...that doesn't seem right to give your dead brother's ring (if it hadn't worked) at that time to your ex-girlfriend who would have been a vampire at that time (Isobel has to be like 2 to 4 years old in vampire age, not like 6-8 months?) Alaric got that ring before Isobel was turned...
To explain why Grayson never got it back would be either he didn't care about the Gilbert history of vamps or he did and never spoke to his brother again...lol i dont know
i thought that john had given his ring to isobel before and that then grayson had given his ring to john for some unknown reason and that's why he wasn't wearing it in the accident!! I really wanna know what Katherine's been up to since 1864??
Johnathon Gilbert gave Isobel his own ring, then took Grayson's when he died. It didn't protect him from the car crash because as Isobel said "it will protect you from the things that go bump in the night" not from bad driving lol.
I would definitely love to see how Anna and Pearl were turned, maybe it was by Katherine? We know she's mega old and her and Pearl had been close for a very long time, could their strong bond be due to Katherine turning her? Who knows. I can't imagine Pearl being turned, and then turning her own daughter - to me I don't think a mother would want an undead life for their child.. Katherine being the selfish ***** she is would turn whoever she wanted - maybe this is why Pearl was so annoyed when finding out that Katherine was going to turn both the Salvatore brothers.
Questions questions questions!
One more cliff-hanger, what happens to Jeremy? Does he turn into a vampire and if he does how will Elena deal with having a vampire brother/cousin? And if he doesn't will he tell Elena what he did and what almost happened?
