'The Other Guys' wins Friday Box Office, 'Step Up 3-D' and 'Inception' follow
Mark Wahlberg's and Will Ferrell's "The Other Guys" took the No. 1 box office spot on Friday, raking in $13.2 million dollars. The buddy-cop comedy is targeted to be one of the bigger opening weekends of Ferrell's prolific comedy career.
Meanwhile, "Step Up 3-D" danced its way to $6.6 million, coming in second place. The film was no doubt boosted by producer Adam Shankman's high-profile judging gig on "So You Think You Can Dance," which is more buzz-worthy than ever as this week's finale approaches.
It was followed up by "Inception," which remains $5.6 million strong -- despite the fact that by now, everyone's got to know how it ends.
With a take of $3.4 million, "Dinner for Schmucks" landed the number 4 spot. The take was a significant drop from last week's opening numbers for the Steve Carell/Paul Rudd flick, likely caused by "The Other Guys" cornering a large sector of the comedy market. "Salt," led by Angelina Jolie, finished Friday with an estimated $3.3 million, rounding out the Top 5.
