'The Good Wife': Michael J. Fox gets the sympathy vote

michael-j-fox-getty.jpgFall TV just got a little more awesome. Five-time Emmy Award winner Michael J. Fox shows no sign of slowing down as he makes plans to follow up his critically acclaimed guest-starring role on "Rescue Me" with a one-shot appearance on CBS's "The Good Wife."

Fox stepped down from his role on "Spin City" in 2001 when symptoms of his Parkinson's Disease became too difficult to conceal on-screen (and in front of a live studio audience). Since then, he's written three best-selling books and featured in guest arcs on "Scrubs," "Boston Legal," and "Rescue Me" along with a handful of voice-acting jobs.

In his role on "The Good Wife," Fox won't have to worry about hiding his symptoms from the camera. His character, Simon Canning, is an unrelenting lawyer who uses symptoms of his neurological disorder in court in order to gain sympathy from the judge and jury. Canning will face off against Juliana Margulies' character, Alicia when she takes on a class-action suit against a pharmaceutical comapny.

"We're absolutely thrilled that Michael has agreed to play this role," showrunners Robert and Michelle King say in a statement. "His intelligence as an actor, combined with his incredible comic timing will really bring this smart, cynical lawyer to life."

I'm glad that Michael J. Fox continues to work now and then despite his Parkinsons symptoms.I was a licensed Pharmacy Technican for 10 years and saw a young man come in often with Parkinsons .He had some good days but the bad ones were so bad.He could barely sign his name but he always tried to smile and kept on chugging along.I hope Michael never stops fighting and doing charity work for this mean and nasty disease!
