'The Expendables' muscles out 'Eat Pray Love' on Friday

Sylvester Stallone and his collection of "Expendables" are proving they can still kick some box-office tail.The action flick, which Stallone stars in, co-wrote and directed, scored an estimated $13.3 million at the box office Friday (Aug. 13), putting it on pace for a weekend take north of $30 million. That's on the high side of what forecasters were predicting going into the weekend.
The polar opposite of "The Expendables," "Eat Pray Love," also had a respectable opening day on Friday. The Julia Roberts movie, based on Elizabeth Gilbert's best-seller, took in $8.5 million, according to studio estimates. That means it should be on its way to a haul of $20 million-$25 million for the weekend.
This week's other new release, "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," didn't fare quite as well. It earned $4.6 million on Friday to finish in fourth place, behind last week's top movie "The Good Guys," which earned $5.6 million.
"Inception" rounded out the top five with an estimated $3.4 million.

Don't forget that these are one day totals...the weekend numbers will really show what the flops are and who the winners are. Eat Pray Love is going to be big in the long run (IMO) b/c it's Julia Roberts and this is pure chick flick like Sex & the City.

I don't get it. I saw both The Expendables and Scott Pilgrim this weekend.
Expendables was good, but Scott Pilgrim was hilarious! I've seen almost 30 flicks at the theater this year, and it's in my top 5 for sure. Don't understand why it bombed.
