'The Big Bang Theory' premiere: One giant leap for Sheldonkind

big-bang-theory-s4-premiere.jpg"The Big Bang Theory" is taking a huge step as its fourth season begins.

We're not talking about the show's new Thursday-at-8 timeslot, although that's a pretty big deal too. No, this is more momentous: Sheldon is going on a date. The proof is right there at the top of the post.

Mayim Bialik is reprising her guest role from last season's finale as Amy, Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) seemingly perfect match. The Season 4 premiere will test that idea right off, as the two go on a date, Sheldon's first ever.

And, oh yeah, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) finds herself playing the third wheel -- and judging by her expression in the photo above, she's none too thrilled at the dinner-table conversation.

"The Big Bang Theory" starts its fourth season at 8 p.m. ET Thursday, Sept. 23. The episode is called "The Robotic Manipulation, which we're guessing has something to do with what Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) is up to in the picture below.

Best comedy nowadays! Hope jim parsons wins the emmy!!

I'll be watching Community instead.

I want Amy to leave, Leonard and Penny to get back together, and the show go back to the way it was last season.

This show is a great show. I will DVR it for sure, watch it when I can in its new time slot and buy the Season DVD. However, I am disappointed they did not keep it on Monday night. But CBS is trying to fix things that are not broke so it will be so sad for this great show and CBS's loss of viewers if the new time slot doesn't work.

Why cbs changed nights is beyond any normal persons way of thinking. The number one way to kill a show is by changing its night.

ringofan1 - I totally agree. It was in a great time slot and probably when 2 and 1/2 men gets done in a few years it would take that slot. I was glad to see CBS finally put Rules of Engagement on full time - that was a long time coming. I love that show.

They should have kept it on Monday night. I'll see what else is on during their new time slot, so I may be DVRing it, when I watched it live when it was on Mondays. I love the show and love Sheldon, but don't want it to become the Sheldon show. I like the balance it has had with the cast and hope it continues. this is one show where I can watch the reruns because whatever the plot is, it's the dialogue that makes this show so hilarious and watchable.

My concern is not so much for the night, but the content at 8:00 PM. I like the show, but I don't want children watching adult conversation, which will happen if they continue to use adult themes and put the show on at 8:00. So, they need to adjust the content, but I doubt they will. RIP family hour!

Dave,

i'm bummed because i think now it will be on at the same time as Vampire Diaries. i wish they would just leave it how it was. :(

As I know, Community is the same day as TBBT, so watch your favorite one, and record the other one, you can have them both, or watch it on internet, that´s what I do, I am in Perú, and I have to wait till October or November to watch the premiere, no way!, I will look for it on line, so watch one and record your other favorite one, TBBT is my favorite, and Jim Parsons deserves an Emmy
