'Spider-Man': Who should play Peter Parker's love interest?

spider-man-ladies-getty-two.jpgIt was announced months ago that the new "Spider-Man" reboot would feature Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. But which lovely young Hollywood starlet should play his love interest?

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the character will not be Mary Jane Watson, who was played by Kirsten Dunst in the recent "Spider-Man" trilogy. Gwen Stacy, a character introduced in "Spider-Man 3" and played by Bryce Dallas Howard, is still a possibility, or it could be some unknown female character.

THR revealed several names in talks for the part -- Imogen Poots, Ophelia Lovibond, Lilly Collins, Teresa Palmer and Emma Roberts.

Zap2it would like to offer a few casting suggestions of our own:

Lyndsy Fonseca is about to take to the small screen to kick some butt on "Nikita." We also enjoyed her in "Kick-Ass." Could you see her opposite Garfield?

Speaking of "Kick-Ass," Hit Girl Chloe Moretz was really the female highlight of that movie -- alas, we fear she is too young for the unnamed "Spider-Man" love interest. But we still love her nonetheless. If only it was a movie due out in 2014.

Dianna Agron
from "Glee" is another popular Zap2it choice. She's sweet on the outside, but we know she has some fight in her. And if there was a musical scene, they'd be all set.

"Pretty Little Liars" has burst onto the scene as the TV hit of the summer -- so why not give those girls a chance? We think adorable Lucy Hale would be right up "Spider-Man's" alley.

The no-nonsense Jess from "Friday Night Lights" Jurnee Smollett is another girl we think should get a chance. Her 1000-watt smile and cheekbones that could cut glass would make her more than enough for Peter Parker to handle.

Rooney Mara
is an unknown who isn't doing anything right now just got cast as Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." But we actually think her sister Kate Mara would make an excellent comic book heroine.

What do you think, "Spider-Man" fans? Who is your pick?

Use Chloe Moretz anyway. Speaking of her...

Did you know she plays a BOY in her next movie that's coming out? Seriously.

In "Let Me In" she plays a vampire who is actually a boy but who was castrated/had his genitals removed before becoming a vampire. And she/he falls for a human boy and he for her/him. Doubt this will be addressed in this the 2nd movie version of the book "Let the Right One In" though (the Swedish version did address and showed it briefly however).

She will probably be presented as a girl only as we Americans can't handle this edgy stuff that other countries can. But read the book and you'll see (that and how many other changes this American version is making... character names, where it's set, etc.).

Maybe they should go against the grain and not even worry about a love interest. Holy goodness, can't we just for once not have a love interest?. Just keep her on the backburner and focus on Peter Parker fighting some inner demons or something. Not every hero needs a girl.

It's Lyndsy Fonseca...

Yep, use Chloe Moretz! But wait until she's 15 yrs old first. So, in 1st movie Peter Parker won't have love interest/with other girl & then start from the sequel, Chloe will appear for his main love interest!

Haha Chloe name being mentioned in almost every great young girl role nowadays, most of it I agree b'coz she's a wonderful actress. But isn't be Peter Parker's girl a bit too much? Well, as long as she'll a lot more spunky than Mary Jane ^^

@Steve- Thanks captain obvious. You're not the only one that knows about "Let the Right One In." I saw it in 2008, but I'm not bragging.
