'Real Housewives D.C.': Ranked by glasses of whine

Wow. Things are finally heating up on "The Real Housewives of D.C." That's relative by the way, because compared to New York, New Jersey or Atlanta, D.C. is more like steaming than boiling.
In Thursday's (August 26) episode, jealousy abounds as Mary Amons thinks that Michaele Salahi is stealing her thunder with her close friend (Mary doesn't have a best friend, she says), hair stylist Ted Gibson. By the way, he's the one who gave Kate Gosselin that mess of a weave. Ted's gossipy partner creates some smack talking when he tells the housewives that the Salahis invited them to the Congressional Black Caucus dinner and they ended up having to sneak in. Then life got nuts when the Salahis invited the housewives to their compound winery to stomp grapes surrounded by actors security.
These women take their social rules very seriously. It doesn't mean they follow them, but they do lie about following them. That is, until they're confronted... And then they just whine about propriety and fib about talking about one another. It's such a newbie mistake for them to forget that cameras capture everything, so you might as well be honest.

Unlike at the Salahi grape stomping, there's plenty of sour grapes to go around here. So, we decided to rank the women by how many glasses of whine they stomped out.
5 glasses, Cat: We're convinced she has a mixture of mild Tourette's and extreme British snobbery. We understand your opinions are beyond reproach, but must you be so rude and close-minded when you express them?
4 glasses, Mary: There's a certain level of annoyance we have at a person who lies through their teeth. We've witnessed her talk smack several times and her continual claim that she only builds people up and she has never said anything bad about anyone is the same reason Miss Philippines lost the Miss Universe pageant when she said she had no regrets in her life. Perfect people aren't likeable people.
3 glasses, Michaele: We're not sure if the best way to confront the people who are gossiping about you is to trap them in the wine cellar then pummel them with your accusations. It was neither effective, since the main culprit, Lynda, wasn't even there or hospitable for a host to pull. As far as we were concerned, Mary and Stacie were nice enough to stay after Cat left. They didn't deserve to feel even more uncomfortable.
2 glasses, Lynda: We give her credit for turning down Michaele's invitation to the winery, because she'd rather not hang with someone she doesn't like. On the flip side, she's Michaele's biggest detractor. So, she gets a pass this time, but in any other episode she would have stomped out way more glasses of whine.
1 glass, Stacie: We like Stacie. She's straightforward, not afraid to show her feelings and she comes off likeable. We'd give her 0 glasses, though we don't want to set her up for failure. See our comments above about perfect people.

Hey man, is it me or did Stacie's story sound like the V.C. Andrews novel Rain? Both biracial women, both situations are set in Washington, D.C., and both were sent away by a shameful white mother who couldn't bring them home to face the firing squad looks of the mothers' families. Stacie might want to check into that even if the book came out almost a decade ago...
But the rankings you just displayed are on so on point. Mazel, my dude!
I loved the grape stomp.
Mary is a bit boring and jaded.
Michaele is pretty.
Cat is angry all the time.
Lynda, who cares? Boring.
5 glasses to stupid Michale.
I pity Michaele because she is nothing, she never found her gifts, she never found herself, and all she appears to be is a Trophy Girl just like any other girl who gets paid by a man - she just got the ring
Cat is playing the Real Housewives Game to get the attention, she is a CoPY CAT Housewife
Stacie, I want to like her but she just seems to try a bit to hard but her hubby is pretty handsome & well I don't have much to say about them yet
I like Lynda because she say and does exactly what she feels like. She works hard and enjoys life as far as I can tell but she doesn't really care what others think
Mary is my favorite, she is really pretty, she gives me great ideas for makeup/hair & even clothes for my body type. She doesn't appear to be too two faced to me. I see sometimes she will say some stuff n then deny but for the most part she seems like she would be a great friend to have. I am curious why she didn't bring up the fact that the host of the wine party didn't actually pay as hostess of the hair dude's birthday party. They knew exactly what they were doing and they should have paid - what rude azzessss!!!
I'd change how you spell. Tourette's. Turrets are on castles. You have an M.A.? Really?
Tourette's fixed. Thanks, Joan.
i am not a cat fan for the exact reasons you described. everytime she opens her mouth it just spews obnoxious comments.
i feel like lynda is really running a high priced escort service on the side and calling it a modeling agency. who hires models for diplomat parties? hello!
michaele is just... full of air in her own imaginary bubble. whoever is willing to take care of her. she will probably gravitate to.
i still like stacie. she's her own businesswoman with a family she seems to be involved with and i have to respect that.
mary. well. honestly i like her a lot. i get how she can come off as ridiculous. but keep in mind, people who grow up privileged with no worries and are allowed to do what they want don't know life any other way. and well. for a pampered pooch she's much more down to earth than i'd have expected.
If I were Michaele I wouldn't invite them to any more things.
Mary is always drunk and trys to pretend she doesn't have a bad word to say about anyone but the show lets us see who she really is.
The other wives are so mean and boring too. Nothing to make you want to watch about them.
I like Mary. Like what was said above. She was raised in a preileged atmosphere and with that in mind, she seems real. I really believe she trys to be all she says she is. We all don't succeed all the time. Sometimes she is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Trys to join the conversation with as little comment as possible. That's why the camera focuses on her facial expressions rather than her voice.
Cat is rude and thinks she is just honest. Give me a break. Wake up. I love the English people but if she was all you had to judge them by, God help us all.
Michaele is not very intellegent. I feel sorry for her and hate to say anything bad about a stereotypical blond. She does drive me crazy to listen to. I hope there is something under the hair and maybe we will see it. Her material goods are nice though.
Though I've never been a reality show viewer, due to my findings that the few segments I've ever happened to see do not fit into my definition of "real", genuine or within the realms of my personal life experiences or aspirations, I did tune into this particular show. I thought that I might relate since I am familiar with the location and have an interest in the political backdrop. Again, I’ve experienced a big disappointment! My ratings for these 5 women are somewhat different from yours. My limited and not necessarily well-based opinion has changed since each character has routinely revealed variant personas on the 4 episodes that I’ve seen.
• Mary sees herself as a sincere, sweet person, a real asset to the
DC scene and especially to those whom she considers to be her friends. She does seem to be a truly nice person, but at some point she will have to reevaluate her personal definition and qualifications when designating someone as her “friend”. (Pretentious, insecure – 3 glasses)
• Stacie is dealing with real issues and goals, like trying to establish an understanding of her biological parents’ past, in order to establish a relationship with them. She seems to have a great marriage and a loving bond with her kids and relatives. However, she is a consummate gossip, effectively distancing herself from those little tidbits that she reveals, while also understanding that she is setting up a scenario for dissent. (The
quiet betrayer – 2 glasses)
• Lynda tries to be positive and supportive, but she is instinctively aware of the possibility of repercussions from a “whisper down the lane” scenario. Gossip can grow like a snowball, so she is automatically reluctant to be 100% involved in those conversations and settings that may come back to haunt – fairly or unfairly. (Perceptive; finding balance for all this from her private life, and subtly avoiding the nonsense that is at hand – 4 glasses)
• Cat is like a fish out of water. Her blunt, spontaneous, and often critical
remarks are poorly received, especially when she attempts to veil them as just personal observations, a personal point of view of what she sees as obvious. This is not so much a matter of racism or the innocent lack of understanding of Washington’s accepted protocol, as it is of the superiority complex sometimes exhibited by the English and supported by Americans who are Anglophiles. My own experience is that unkind and unnecessarily tendered comments are meant to offend. (The artful dodger – 2 glasses)
• Michaele is treacherous and self- involved. She seems incapable of feeling apologetic for any of her ridiculous, narcissistic, self-serving actions and lies. Why the others tolerate her in such a phony way is the real quandary. This would appear to be a matter of riding the coattails of someone who is destined to get publicity, despite the horrendous nature of their notoriety, in order to maximize the moment. Nevertheless, Michaele and her husband have brought about the firing of at least one White House appointee, have totally been insurgent in their quests to be in the “right place’, though uninvited. The only positive that I see is that security personnel may view this as an opportunity to re-evaluate their methods. Why the Salahis have not been held accountable, as criminal for their total disregard of national security issues is highly questionable to me.
(Phony “wannabe” with grave narcissist issues – 0 glasses)
