Oprah Winfrey's OWN sued for workplace discrimination

oprah-winfrey-afi-09-320.jpgA former employee of Oprah Winfrey's cable channel is suing the not-yet-launched network for workplace discrimination.

Catherine Dunn filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Friday (Aug. 13) claiming that OWN -- that's the Oprah Winfrey Network -- created a "hostile work environment" for her when she worked there starting in fall 2008.

Dunn, who has multiple sclerosis, claims she was subject to discrimination because of her MS, TMZ reports. The suit also alleges that the stress of her work environment aggravated her condition, forcing her to take a stress leave and a leave of absence.

While Dunn was on leave, the suit claims, OWN replaced her with a "non-disabled and younger employee." She's asking for unspecified damages for wrongful termination.

Winfrey's camp hasn't commented on the suit.

OWN is scheduled to launch in January with shows featuring Winfrey, Rosie O'Donnell and Shania Twain, among others. It will take over what's currently the Discovery Health channel.

I will be glad to see Oprah leave her show and only wish she would leave completely!

This network is going to be a bigtime failure while she bleeds Discovery for more money to keep this damn thing afloat.

i love Oprah but i agree this network is gonna fail.

what's going to happen to my favorite network, the discovery health channel?

Dat Dope raw sheez uh racist..sheez dones likes duh whytee..sheez anz dat Obama muther fliker daze goens tues takes over duh America..I'z dones likes herz

When I look at Oprah all I can think of is a terrible stinky vaginal odor coming from her..

There are already 100's of channels with nothing on worth watching, does O think that loonatic Rosie will help her new network?

I'd rather it stay the Discovery Health, at least it doesnt suck.

Much like her last failed attempt (Oxygen), OWN will become a pawn in some megabuyout in a couple of years.

Wow! the haters and racist always come out when success is talked about! This story has nothing to do with Oprah's new channel! This ex-employee was looking for a lawsuit!
