'Next Food Network Star': Aarti, Herb or Tom FTW? Vote!

next-food-network-star-top-3-320.jpgWhich "Next Food Network Star" contestant can take the heat that Rachael Ray is dishing?

On the "Star" season finale Sunday, Aug. 15 at 9 p.m. ET, the perky Food Network personality will be directing the Top 3's pilots for the shows they're wanting to launch. Once a focus group has weighed in, the judges will decide who has the chops -- in the kitchen and in front of the camera -- to become the next face on the network.

Let's take a look at the finalists:

Herb Mesa - His past as an overweight child informs his cuisine -- healthy but tasty dishes -- but it's also been his downfall earlier on in the competition when his low self-esteem sabotaged his performance in front of the camera. Eventually though, he came into his own, and switched his rather weak "Energy Chef" idea to the much stronger and focused "Cooking con Sabor" (Cooking with Flavor), which honors his heritage. He's only won one star challenge and tied for one camera challenge.

Tom Pizzica - His big personality took a while to hone for the camera, but since then, he's been going pretty strong. He takes major (some would say wacky) risks, and they don't always pay off on the plate, but win him points on chutzpah and originality, which is what saved him during the Iron Chef Challenge. He's only fallen into the Bottom 2 once, and won the most recent two star challenges and has two camera challenges under his belt.

Aarti Sequeira - This food blogger brings her Indian flavors and influences into her "Aarti Paarti" concept, and her charmingly goofy personality won over the judges early on. She's won a whopping four star challenges and three camera challenges but her nerves and occasional low self-esteem have stuck her on the bottom lately, making for an inconsistent run. Zap2it is firmly on Team Aarti and has been from the beginning, so fingers crossed.

I think picking aarti was a big mistake. The last thing Americans want is an indian influence. Tom would have been the real American Winner will not watch her

I think all three were very good but you can always tell who the next star will be...you choices are very predictable.....Tom was definitely different...he looks like a animal house frat boy.....with a ton of talent and energy

What in the world has food network done. I believe it was rigged. Food network gave it away weeks ago. Why have a contest when your picking who you want anyway. Sh is difficult to understand and I would not make anything she has to offer. Tom or Herb I would have I'm disappointed in food network is a big hoax.

I WATCH THE FOOD NETWORK ALL THE TIME AND ARTI IS A BIG TURNOFF. I WILL NEVER WATCH HER SHOW. SHE SEEMS SO FAKE. NOTHING NATURAL ABOUT HER OR HER FOOD.

I will watch Tom on whatever channel he ends up.....I can not believe they picker Aarti........This show blows and has only picked 1 star so far.....

well i agree that they blew it! tom was different......we have too many female cooking shows like arrti allready! tom would have gotten alot more viewers.....they said it themselves....he's like guy fierei he's different!!!!

are you nuts?Tom! Tom!

BIG mistake. They made a mistake last year when they picked the silly blonde mom. Now this silly woman. WOMEN watch the Food Network. We do not want to watch mindless women smiling while they cook. Herb or Tom - either would have been great (though I also liked Brad.) Herb could have provided a show with healthy options (with a Latin influence.) That show I would have watched.
I'm not sure what the Execs are doing - but I think they need a TV show to pick Food Network Execs b/c these guys are a joke. (I love lots of Food Network shows - love Big Daddy - I do not watch last year's winner (does she even still have a show? She was a joke.) I will not watch Aarti. She is annoying.

I happen to love aarti and I can't wait to watch her show. I have to say tom was ok but he just looks like a big bum not what people want to see on a cooking show.
