Mary Hart leaving 'Entertainment Tonight'
"Entertainment Tonight" will lose its long-time anchor Mary Hart at the end of next season.Hart announced Thursday (Aug. 5) that the 2010-11 season, the show's 30th, will be her last. She's been with the syndicated showbiz-news show almost from the beginning: She joined "ET" in 1982, a year after it launched.
"I've had the privilege of spending 29 years doing something I love -- how often does that happen?" Hart says in a statement. "I only meant to be at 'ET' for three years, suddenly it's almost 30! I've reached a point when I clearly realize it's time for a change. There are many things I want to do in my life, and I'd better get on with them. It will certainly be with mixed sentiments that I say goodbye at the end of the season, but it will definitely be with a sense of celebration."
For now, it will be business as usual on "ET," which launches its 30th season on Sept. 13. No decision has been made on a replacement for Hart, but the show's producers have plenty of time.
"Mary is one of my closest friends and although I respect her decision I will miss her tremendously," "ET" executive producer Linda Bell Blue says. "Right now we are focused on making this next season the very best in her long history with 'ET.'"

Wow...never saw that one coming. I've always admired Mary Hart for how she presented herself from hosting, to interviewing on the red carpet, and handling delicate interviews with compassion and professionalism. I will miss her perky smile, kindness and gentle nature. Hopefully, her replacement will fill her shoes accordingly. Wishing Mary continued best of luck in all her future endeavours, may she fulfill her aspirations with the diplomacy and standard which made her popular among her peers.
You will truly be missed Mary.
Thank God! Mary has the obnoxiouis habit about inserting herself into every story and interview she does! Next time she interviews someone, count how many times the camera shows Mary nodding, Mary shaking her head, Mary smiling, etc. And of course, she (and the rest of the "reporters") always find a way to link a story back to her. Example, Jane Lynch in wax - SO WAS MARY!!!!
Dear lord, the year long "Goodbye to Mary Tour" will be nauseating.
Wonder how long she will be "gone" before she comes back for a special report on "What Is Mary Up To"?

To stay at one place for 30 years, let alone in Hollywood, is a remarkable feat, no matter how you look at it. Good luck to her in her future endeavors after next year.
I will miss Mary on ET. She did a phenomenal job.
Mary is the classiest person in the Entertainment News business. She is always at the top of her game, nice, knowledgeable and fresh air among the current crop who deem it necessary to condemn, preach, and at times vilify whenever possible. She will be impossible to replace w/anyone currently on the air. They should all take a page from Mary's playbook on how it's done.
MARY WILL BE MISSED!!!!ESPECIALLY HER BEAUTFUL LEGS!!!
Kit is so right, that woman is the most pretentious person in the world. Totally fake, I think she is perpetually caught in a beauty pagent contest. And add narcissistic to that; it's always about her. I hope she gone for good; can't take anymore seizures.
