'Lost' DVD extra: Claire's squirrel baby explained, sort of
His (or was it her?) time on "Lost" was relatively brief, but he (or she) made an indelible impression on the show's fans, becoming one of the iconic characters of the series. We speak, of course, of the squirrel baby.
OK, so "iconic" may be a wee bit of a stretch, but there's no question that the thing Claire (Emilie de Ravin) toted around in Season 6 made an impression. In the clip below -- an extra on the "Lost" complete series DVD collection that goes on sale Tuesday (Aug. 24), executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, co-EP Paul Zbyszewski (who takes credit for coining the name "squirrel baby") and several cast members share their reactions to the disturbing prop.
"When I read in the script about squirrel baby, I thought it was probably the creepiest thing our writers had ever come up with," Evangeline Lilly says.
If you're interested in owning your very own squirrel baby, you can bid on it at this weekend's "Lost" auction. It's expected to fetch between $300 and $500. Here's the clip explaining its origins:
We wish de Ravin luck with her squirrel baby toy line.
For the record: An earlier version of this post stated the clip above will be on both the "Lost" Season 6 and "Complete Collection" DVD sets; in fact it will only be part of the complete series box.

OMG - A LOST post!!!
Thank you Rick :) :)
Are you ready to announce the new "thing" you're gonna do that you couldn't tell us about before?
Ya know what, her son Arron was never explained fully on the show.
oh man, this series is history finally, move on! LOL
It's not fair to only put this in the complete collection! What about all of us fans who've faithfully bought each season as it came out? I'm certainly not going to buy the whole thing over again--I'm already pissed about how they added a bunch of stuff to Season 1 after I'd purchased the first edition. I do love the show, though!
the squirrel baby up for auction IS NOT SCREEN USED.
