Joel McHale, LL Cool J join Emmy lineup; 'Bones' gets David Alan Grier

"Bones" has signed David Alan Grier for a guest role. He'll play "Jude the Science Dude," the host of a kids' TV show who wants Brennan (Emily Deschanel) to be a guest on his program. [TV Guide]
Oscar winner Kevin Spacey may be headed to HBO. The cable channel is close to ordering a pilot called "The Crux" from Rod Lurie ("Commander in Chief") in which Spacey would play a cult leader. [Variety]
Betty White is adding "author" to her already full plate. She has a two-book contract to write a memoir -- called "Listen Up!" -- that's due out early next year, followed by a book about her work with animals. [The Wrap]
The premiere of "Melissa & Joey" on Tuesday (Aug. 17) scored 2.2 million viewers, a record for a comedy series debut on ABC Family. Meanwhile, "Covert Affairs" hit a new high of 5.4 million viewers. [Deadline]
Ernest Borgnine will be the Lifetime Achievement honoree at the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards. His film and TV career spans nearly 60 years. [SAG]
"The View's" Sherri Shepherd has been named the new host of "The Newlywed Game" on GSN. She starts taping her episodes next month; they're scheduled to debut in November. [GSN]

DAG is so smart and funny, I wish he could get a regular series that sticks. He is talented enough to carry a show, he just needs the right vehicle. I don't watch Bones, but go DAG! :)
