HGTV 'Design Star': Emily or Michael FTW? Vote!

design-star-s5-emily-michael-320.jpgCan Emily Henderson and Michael Moeller bring themselves to destroy each other?

The former teammates go head-to-head on the Season 5 finale of HGTV's "Design Star," airing Sunday, Aug. 22 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The fifth season was tougher than ever, thanks to a new format that challenged the contestants up for elimination to tape a presentation of their designs so they can be judged on their hosting skills.

For the finale, the designers will have to present their (possible) future shows.

The final two:

Emily - She started out dismally by being in the Bottom Two of the first episode after failing the "white box challenge." She's nevertheless bounced back a bit, placing highly in many of the challenges, although she did fall in the Bottom 2 once again. Her quirky and bohemian style brings in surprises every now and then, and she definitely isn't afraid to use color or print.

Michael - He's done pretty well for himself, landing among the top designs for the majority of the run (except for falling to the Bottom 2 only recently). He can be a bit off-putting with his take charge attitude, but at least he's recovered from his nail gun mishap to make it to the end. His knack for innovation definitely makes him a strong contender.

And here's a peek at Emily and Michael in the finale waiting to hear ("hear no evil"?) the results.

Again, they are completely blowing it. They say they are looking for a good host, well, let me tell you, Emily talks so fast that we can't understand a word she says. And she keeps bringing all this JUNK into her "designs". You people really need new judges. This one really takes the cake!!!

I am surprised these two made it to the finals. They are both irritating. Emily is as dull as a butter knife and Michael is just a little too gay on camera. I wouldn't watch either of their programs.

I love Emily. She's very REAL. I think the idea of designing like you dress is a great show concept. Emily could very well be our girl! There's no other show on HGTV like her! I like her quirky ways. She makes me smile.

My house needs updating but I wouldn't let either of these so-called designers do anything for me. Of course, the stupid themes or "inspirations" they've had this season haven't allowed any of the designers to come up with anything that most people would want to see in their homes. I won't be watching the winner of this year's show even if HGTV can figure out how to work a show around them.

Cheryl, "too gay"? did you also think some of the other contestants were "too black"? There can be no such thing as too gay, too black, too white -- it's what people are. Get used to it.

I can't stand Emily. She is so arrogant, she thinks the fact that she talks too fast, in too silly a manner, and no one can understand half of what she says is cool. She is NOT cool and her design style is mediocre at best. I would never watch her on any show and she should have be sent home from the Design Star the first week. Sure Michael is obviously annoyling gay, but he does have an eye for decorating so he is the lesser of two evils. Seems these judges let the wrong people go, although some of them were actually talentless.

Emily has no talent whatsoever so I don't know how she made it to the finals. That girl they let go last week was odd looking, but she would have been a much better pick than this conceited (why, she has nothing to be conceited about)goober. Michael did a great job on the glass house and would make a much better show host. My vote is for him.

This years design star group is the worst. Don't like any of them.
