'Hell's Kitchen' winner: Holli Ugalde beats 'love interest' Jay Santos

After weeks of being berated by Chef Gordon Ramsay, Holli Ugalde finally won Season 7 of "Hell's Kitchen," making her the new chef at Ramsay's Savoy Grill in London. The runner up was her hot tub buddy, Jay Santos.Both contestants had a rough dinner service, mostly thanks to their teammates' blunders and Ramsay fueling anxiety with his constant shouting. In the end, the dinner service went better than expected, though, and it seemed to be a close call. While waiting for Ramsay's decision, Santos belched grotesquely.
"I would love to be more articulate about how I feel," Santos says. "But I don't even know how I feel."
In the end, Holli says that her "whole entire future" lays behind the door. When she opens it, confetti rains down and her entire family is there to witness her moment of victory, including her adorable son, who will be moving to London with her. "Mama, you're the winner!" he shouts. Awww.

I think Holli deserved to win. She was better than Jay as in having the whole package. I felt Jay was a bit arrogant in relation to his talent and leadership ability and that Holli was properly confident as well as super capable!

I couldn't believe it either. "No way she beats Jay", I thought. I STILL don't think she did, but, it's really no big surprise, seeing as Ramsay more often than not, favours the ladies. Anybody else catch a glimpse of season 6 winner Dave scoot by the camera just as the show ended?
that's BS!!....I duno how she was even in the top 4,,,they let Ben go and then she beats out jay? COME ON!
I didn't even bother to watch last night, as I had a feeling Ramsey had already picked Holli. I just don't see it, myself. She always seemed weak and scattered, and her food prep was never that strong. I am willing to bet she doesn't last six months.
Jay was clearly the better cook the better chef and a better leader a natural leader with insight on how to treat chefs in his kitchen individually. Jay was way more qualified to run a kitchen b/c he already runs one. Holi will not be getting that job as head chef in London as Ramsey is no idiot!!! No chef in his right mind would put a 24 year old with no head chef experience to run your new restaurant that you spent so much money building. In fact jay with all of his qualifications would have never been head chef. To be a head chef in a celebrity chefs restaurant you need to work with that chef for years to gain his respect and trust that you can replicate his ideas and perceived value to the customer night after night. You have some of the best chefs in the world trying to work for chefs like Ramsey and manny that already work for him that are 1000 times more qualified to run a restaurant than holi. High end restaurants are almost always run by chefs that are promoted from within.
This show was fixed from the start. I was embarrassed for Ramsey in last night show as it is obvious he is flirting with Holli. The tatse test was pathetic as he called on of his chefs cute while he tatsed Holli dish. Jay is the better Chef and deserved to win. unfortunatley, Ramsey's Hormones decided this.
When your a head Chef at the Savoy in London, there is not room to improve as you should be established with a proven record. The head chef has a different meaning in this case. Again, Holi's ****** were the deciding factor and that Ramsey is horn dog.
If it wasn't for Holli's good looks, she wouldn't be the winner. Jay was tops from day one, but Ramsey's either playing this game for ratings or he's planning on banging her down the road. He shows his hand with the attractive ladies, he;s more than predictable!
When your a head Chef there is no room to improve as others look to you as a leader. I am sorry but I think you mistaken. Ramsey is a horn dog, who gives HEAD Chef a different meaning in this seasons winner.
Ramsay clearly stated that Holli had made the most improvement of everyone which to me seems to indicate that she wants and desires to improve, whereas Jay seems to think he's great just the way he is and doesn't need to improve. And forget Ben, he's a legend in his own mind. I believe he's another that thinks he's so great there's no room for improvement. And that's not what Ramsay's looking for. He doesn't want someone who thinks they're all that but someone who has the hunger and thirst for greater things and more knowledge and a potential for greatness and he apparently found that in Holli.
