'Dexter's' Michael C. Hall: 'I was the Susan Lucci of pay cable' before the Golden Globes

michael-c-hall-320-emmys.jpg"Dexter's" fourth season finally started bringing in the hardware for Showtime's serial killer drama as both star Michael C. Hall and guest-star John Lithgow took home Golden Globes for their work on the last season earlier this year.

Zap2it caught up with Hall to get his thoughts on the 2010 Emmy Awards, which has so far been an elusive award for "Dexter" (although the tide may be turning since Lithgow won for Best Guest Star in a Drama Series at this past weekend's Creative Arts Emmy ceremony).

"Within that context ... I suppose so. The elusive Emmy," says Hall. "But it's not like we're all running the same race. We're all making different shows and it's just really nice to be invited to the party again and again."

In addition to starring on the show, Hall is also an executive producer and says that an award for Outstanding Drama would mean more than any acting accolades.

"I feel like any award for the show is an award for all of us," says Hall. "To have that formally recognized so that people could really, without reservation, share a collective sense of pride would be amazing."

Despite coming off wins at the Golden Globes, there are no expectations for the Emmys.

"I try not to have expectations. Before the Golden Globe thing I was the Susan Lucci of pay cable," Hall deadpans.

Turning attention to the awards as a whole, Hall tells us what other nominees he'd enjoy seeing take home the statuette.

"I mean, I'm a fan of all my fellow nominees ... I really like watching Merritt [Wever] on 'Nurse Jackie,' I think she's really funny, really talented. And Edie [Falco], of course. And Toni Collette. Ha, these are all at the network ... but they're amazing, it's a good place to work," says Hall.

The 2010 Emmy Awards air live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET Sunday, Aug. 29.

Since "BONES" was snubed again I really don't care who wins.

Huh. Maybe he's not such a great actor after all... He sorta looks like a serial killer in this interview!
