David Letterman welcomes Barbara Walters back to 'The View'

"The View" will begin its 14th season on Sept. 7 with the return of Barbara Walters and a guest who's never before graced the couch: David Letterman.The CBS late-night host, who's been poking fun at Walters and Co. pretty much since "The View" debuted in 1997, will appear on the season's first show Tuesday, Sept. 7. That installment will also feature Walters' return to her regular hosting duties after undergoing surgery in May to replace a bad heart valve.
Walters' first week back will also include what ABC is calling a "'surprise' musical number" and video messages from a number of celebs.
The show is also welcoming several political guests early in the season. Former secretary of state and retired Gen. Colin Powell will be a guest on Sept. 9; his successor as secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, and current White House adviser Valerie Jarrett are also booked; Jarrett will appear Sept. 13, and Rice will co-host the show in December.
"The View" will celebrate its 3,000th show on Sept. 23 with a video retrospective, big-name guests and an audience giveaway. Flashbacks to previous seasons will also be featured in the shows leading up to the milestone.

Alex, I notice that you didn't have any specific examples of people to take Dave's mantle. Probably because there is no one talented enough to take over. And "hipper".... really?
