'Bones'' bisous and bangs: Zap2it readers react

After bracing ourselves for the better part of the summer, we finally see Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) plant a big one on his new love interest (Katheryn Winnick) in the first "Bones" promo for Season 6. Way to rip the band-aid...

But is this increased romantic tension for the greater good or an unwelcome detour from what everyone really wants to see? And what about Emily Deschanel's hair?

Zap2it commenters, ever the fervent "Bones" fans, have chosen their sides.

Kat: This is going to be awesome. I can't wait. Not to happy with the Winnick character, but... it'll be good for the B&B relationship. Spice things up a little. Hurry up Sept 23rd.

McKaylaBug: Trying to remain positive about the whole Booth-fell-in-love-in-Afghanistan-with-some-blond-chick thing because, I mean, really? We know he is not going to end up with her. We know who he is going to end up with. It will all be okay in the end :)

Alicia: Who goes to Afghanistan and falls in love? Really? That is just crazy. Hello war zone....

skylark66: Have to say, both Booth and Brennan are looking hot.

Nellie: Of course I strongly dislike the whole Hannah storyline - but look at Brennan's reaction, she still denies that she loves him. Maybe Hannah is the key for her to finally admit it. I love Emily's hair, I love Cam's comment, I love their hug. I just hope that the promo doesn't already show all the great scene from the ep.

Kathy: Feeling a bit queasy. Don't like the super cold direction Bones is taking again, like in season one. Hoped, like Cam, that she would have grown and woken up. Boo new girl.

Shay: OMG i just watched that video like 50 times right now!!!!

Jay: Brennen should be given her own love interest and move on. The cat and mouse is old and would not be shocked if this was the last season. Only so many ways you can keep dancing around.

OK: Doesn't reveal much. Mostly teases but I guess that's the point with a promo. I'm sure there's a lot more going on story-wise, more serious and thoughtful, so I really want to see the entire episode. All in all, nice to see David, Emily, Tamara back again (and even a glimpse of newcomer Winnick).

What side did you take -- pleased with the romantic tension or bummed to see Booth with another gal?

Six years and still no resolution on this story. I think the whole "will-they-won't-they" is played out and, frankly, getting old. Either get them together and explore that side of the relationship or move the show in a different direction. The past season and a half felt stale and slightly tiresome in terms of the inter-personal relationships. C'mon Hart, don't let me down.

Frankly after a (mostly) disappointing Season 5 this promo does nothing to bring me back into the fold. The quality of the show has been in steady decline since the beginning of Season 4 and sadly looks like it won't recover. The fact that it will be competing directly with "Big Bang Theory" and "Community" almost guarantees the ratings will decline.

I just re-watched the pilot yesterday. AMAZING.

Oh, the heights from which they have fallen. Maybe they should fast forward a few years, or blow the lab to smitherines and have a SUPER bad guy to fight.

Even then, they'd only do some serious hand holding. Angela and Hodgins will have grandchildren by the time these two commit.

I agree that their moment has passed. The writers should just deal with this fact and place the ridiculous relationship stories on the back burner.

I'm a little worried about "Big Bang" but NBC's Thursday night line up is a joke, they should run repeats of shows that were popular there in the 80's & 90's. Who ever put together NBC's current Thusday night line up should be killed, all the shows SUCK!

The way I see it, the show's producers answered the question of "Will they or won't they?" last season. The answer; they won't! And shouldn't. That's what killed Moonlighting, people! I would love to see Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz star together in a romantic comedy, as they have a great deal of chemistry. But Brennan is a damaged soul who, through no fault of her own, cannot open herself up to be happy. She doesn't believe in love. Booth has moved on, and good for him. They should be friends. Nothing more. The ship has sailed.

Boreanaz has frequently said that Castle is a copycat of Bones.

Well, Bones is a copycat of X-files. The relationship is the same but without the government conspiracy. Frankly, if I had to watch one more episode about the uberconspiracy of an 'elite'group within the government, I was going to puke.

Enter Bones. A great take on the Mulder/Scully relationship but without the government conspiracy.

Bones is now as stale as 10 day old bread. Castle is the new, rebooted Bones.

One day Castle will be passe and another show will emerge to take its place.

Circle of life, my internet friends...

Bones has copied a lot from Crossing Jordan AND X-Files. That being said, it was better than either program in its scripts until it got mired the same quicksand that Crossing Jordan did. Five seasons of tired will-they-or-won't-they sexual tension is way too long. It makes the audience resentful that they are being jerked around with cheesy tricks rather than being given good character development. The characters that started out so promisingly have gotten stale.

Someone else made reference to Moonlighting losing popularity when Maddie and David finally got together, but that's because they started soap opera plot lines with Maddie backing away from David and marrying another man and having twins (to accommodate her real-life pregancy). The plots became nauseating. Bones can avoid the fatal season 6 of Crossing Jordan (where fans jumped ship in mass numbers) by exploring an honest relationship between Bones and Brennan. They both have enough quirks to make interesting SUBPLOTS, but for goodness sake, DEEMPHASIZE the romance angle.

There are some very interesting couple adjustment angles they could explore in conjunction with their solving mysteries. For instance, keeping their relationship secret for a while from the others, exploring how exposing themselves to danger affects their concern for the other, exploring how to make couples compromises for the good of the relatiohship, etc, etc. These could all be subplots underlying case issues that echo the concepts. Good writers can do a lot with double plot elements (Boston Legal is an excellent example).

Let's avoid the X-files, Crossing Jordan, Castle relationship stalemates and let the characters GROW. Tired plot devices like bringing in another love interest are aggravating and turn off the audience. I stopped watching Crossing Jordan midway Season 5 because of this tactic and caught up during reruns where you can get a condensed cycle and skip the episodes that are bad. I see Bones in danger of making the same mistake Crossing Jordan did. I caught the predictable Jordan-Woody expression of love during the last 5 minutes of the series finale on rerun. Saved one and a half seasons of frustration.
