'American Idol's' Casey James to join Carrie Underwood at Sony Nashville label

The guessing game as to where breakout star and "American Idol" Season 9's third place finisher's music will land has apparently ended.
Kara Dioguardi's forbidden fruit, Casey James, has finally found a home for his music.
According to a Los Angeles Times inside source at Sony Nashville, James will be signing with the label, which is also the musical home to fellow "Idol" alums, Carrie Underwood and Danny Gokey.
The report says James met with the label back in June after Season 9 wrapped. A month later, Sony Nashville's chairman and chief executive, Gary Overton, who had watched James on "Idol," attended the "American Idol" Live Tour, in which James performs four songs. And, apparently, he liked what he heard.
Sony Nashville produced "Idol" champ Underwood's debut, "Some Hearts," which has sold more than 7 million albums.
Are you excited that Casey's blues-inspired music has found a home and he can finally start work on his first solo album?

Casey performed in Dallas tonight. He OWNED THE STAGE - AND THE CROWD!!! He was phenomenal!! Definitely THE attraction of the night! Sony Nashville is lucky to have him.

Wow! That is fantastic news!!! Way to go, Casey!
I think this past seasons Idol performers are a lot better and have more talent than they were allowed to show or "judged" as having.
I most look forward to Casey and Siobhan's success. I was a Lee fan too, and respected Crystal and might reconsider buying her work if her music becomes less dated.
Now I hope Siobhan and Aaron Kelly also get a contract. I think they will. Aaron has done so much better after Idol!
well done casey. hope you form a band.
I will look forward to buying his first CD the day it comes out! His AI performances were NOT a true picture of his ability and talent. He is SO much better in person!!! I hope he has a lot of successful years in the music biz!
