'American Idol': Steven Tyler signs deal to judge, reports say

Steven Tyler has signed a contract to be an "American Idol" judge next season, according to reports.Tyler, the lead singer of Aerosmith, has been rumored to be close to a deal for weeks. Now, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and E!, he has a deal in place. FOX, per usual, has no comment.
Having Tyler locked in now will likely allow him to take part in shooting the audition rounds with the other judges -- whomever they might be -- in September. (Mass auditions have already started; a select few will get callbacks to sing for the judges.)
Meanwhile, depending on the source, FOX either is or isn't still talking with Jennifer Lopez about joining Tyler at the judges' table but has balked at her salary demand, which is reportedly in the $20 million range. Shania Twain, a guest judge and mentor last season, is a potential alternative.
Randy Jackson is likely to return next season, but Kara DioGuardi's status is still in limbo -- a situation about which her dad, at least, is not very happy.
So far the only official "Idol" announcement for Season 10 has been that Nigel Lythgoe will return as an executive producer.

A dead show is still a dead show.
A lot of people have already stopped
carring about season 10.
No Paula, No Simon, its not AI anymore. Its now the Ryan Seacrest
hour with some bad singing thrown in.
well, Anonymous, and anyone else who says this is a dead show... as long as the show stays up there in the ratings, it's not going anywhere.
plus, it's time for new judges...to hopefully choose better talent for the show.
Yuck! I enjoyed the show occasionally but had to switch the channel when Simon was being mean and ripping someone's dreams apart. Now I won't even be able to look at the judges. Yuck! Guess it's forever off my list of things to watch...I'll catch the clips on YouTube.

While I absolutely agree that this show has lost all of its appeal (I am an avid Idol fanatic who stopped watching this year - and will never go back); "wake up" is right... although the rating dropped dramatically - the show was STILL ranked #1 for the season. Yes, Dancing with the Stars beat the show every week towards the end - the numbers are the numbers, and the show still took the top spot. Who can stop it, moving forward?
Didn't you guys report the exact same thing about Jennifer Lopez only to find out it wasn't true? How bout you just wait till FOX announces it?
He is good in Aeosmith ,but too boring for American Idol. Not strong ENOUGH Oor bring back Karen or Paula .Need someone like Adam Lambert
They should REALLY get rid of that stale fart Randy Jackson. With Simon leaving, the producers should seize the opportunity to bring in 100% fresh blood for this season. J.Lo, Steven and Shania sounds like a nice trio to me!
