'View' this: CBS greenlights talk show with Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert
CBS is getting into the daytime talk-show business. Watch your back, "The View."The network has picked up a daytime show for the fall that will feature the likes of Sara Gilbert (who also developed the show), "Early Show" anchor/"Big Brother" host Julie Chen and Sharon Osbourne, among others. The show will "examine topical events and contemporary issues through the eyes of mothers," the network says.
It will also serve as the replacement for the canceled soap opera "As the World Turns," which leaves the air in September after 54 years.
Along with Gilbert ("Roseanne," "The Big Bang Theory"), Chen and Osbourne, the currently untitled show will also star Leah Remini ("The King of Queens"), Holly Robinson Peete ("For Your Love") and Marissa Jaret Winokur ("Hairspray").
"We were looking for a new format that would speak to the core [daytime] audience but also have the topical and entertainment value to go even broader," says Barbara Bloom, CBS' head of daytime. "This panel is not a bashful bunch; they are outspoken on any issue you put on the table. It promises to be an hour of television with timely discussions, unfiltered opinions and a lot of personality."
Gilbert and John Redmann ("The Tyra Banks Show") will executive produce the new show.

Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete seriously the biggest bitch_es on tv? Yea.. I won't be watching. Great start with Julie Chen and Sharon Osborne but good lord who wants to see those two PMS 24/7 hoe bags every day?
Just what we need another freaking talk show!!!
Any show that replaces my soap operas will never see the light of day on my tv. Never. Ever!
It's either Soaps or CNBC!
Of all the shows that could replace ATWT, they pick this crap? Ugh. I'll never watch this crap.
Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete--YUCK!! i agree it sounded promising when i heard about Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert. but now, no way.
I CAN`T WAIT TO SEE MY GAL JULIE CHEN IN THISNEW TALK SHOW.I`M SURE I`LL SEE IT ONLINE,INCE I`M ATWORK.
What a JOKE!Julie Chen is married to CBS SUCKKS CEO LES MOONVES...Coincidence?Hope it tanks...I won't watch and Let's Make A Deal which replaced GL is tanking in the ratings WORSE than GL DID!Like we need another talkie where a half-dozen celeb co-hosts chat about their insightful ways to parent!GAWD!
This show is inevitably going to be coined a "The View" knockoff, no matter how hard they try to claim it isn't. To be honest, it's a brilliant move by CBS. There's more drama with 6 women screaming at each other on TV than there is in any scripted soap opera. And that's saying a lot.
I love the idea that CBS is moving back to some talkshows during daytime.I remember the days of 'Hour Magazine' with Gary Collins. This project seems to be a good one and to the ATWT fans (all 8 or 9 of them) CBS is making a wise investment! Although, Julie is married to the President and like who cares and gives a damn she's an intelligent woman who has been over looked long enough and she is also a MONEY MAKER for CBS. Have you saw the ratings in BB ? OMG, the highest showing in all seasons I guess if we cant get her on the morning news we have to tune in to BB to get her!I love this girl and wish her much success with this project!
REALLY!" -- The Talk?? This a cheap and obviously a poor imitation, as well as a blatant rip-off of The View. No amount of shouting and clapping of the audience will help this show make it past the first season.
I thought program planners were supposed to be intelligent and have a real understanding of the viewing audience. Apparently CBS does not!! This show is like throwing spaghetti against the wall and hoping it will stick.
Cutting the long running SOAPS, and disappointing millions of loyal viewers, to make room for this contrived programming is the very reason that the traditional TV stations are struggling against the popularity of the cable networks. Cable networks are giving the viewing audience the shows they want to watch, by being innovative, creative and taking chances.
There are a lot of people out here in the viewing audience that have access to Cable HD TV and with that the ability to watch excellent cable programs. We no longer have to be loyal to the traditional networks with all the choices available to us; something CBS should have taken into consideration before cancelling the shows that originally made us loyal viewers.
Regards, former CBS fan
