TV Ratings: President Obama pulls in record 'View' audience
Not in nearly 3,000 airings of "The View" has the series nabbed the kind of numbers it brought in for its July 29 visit from President Barack Obama.
The first ever daytime talk appearance of sitting president averaged 6.6 million viewers during its one-hour broadcast.
And more astonishing than the numbers, everyone actually behaved. Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who got flack earlier in the week for some comments about lesbians, seemed just as thrilled to interview the president as her more liberal-leaning cohosts. When talking about the appearance later that night on "The Sean Hannity Show," she even sounded like she enjoyed it, revealing she "had a great conversation with the president backstage."
President Obama's appearance wasn't the only big news for "The View" that day either. It also marked host Barbara Walters' first interview since undergoing heart surgery in May.
As previously announced, Walters won't return to her regular "View" filming schedule until the season starts in September 2010. The following day's broadcast with James Marsden somehow wasn't enough to make her come back from vacation early.

Y'know I'd ALMOST agree with your position if unemployment weren't as HIGH as it is in some states.
Believe it or not, some people played by the 'rules' and through no fault of their own got laid off.
But in YOUR overall opinion they should be left out on the street or be seen and considered as parasites.
I hope NONE of your loved ones or YOU go through what many are suffering now because by your standards they should be left without expectation of help from the government.
I'm all for limited taxation, limited government intervention, and COMPETENT government regulations but OMG - to be as merciless as some are in this world - what's the point of calling ourselves the 'greatest nation in the world' if we can't help our neighbors or those that are going through hardships to get back on to their feet?
Are they parasites that live off the system? Yeah, just as there were people already with high salaries whose greed put the entire nation on the brink of collapse and almost made us a welfare nation.

I thought it was BP (a foreign oil company from a nation our founders fought a war with and in present day - what has to be the ironies of ironies - bought off the people in the our government that regulated it) the ones that fixed their mess with a cap.
