TV ratings: 'Big Brother,' CBS lead Sunday; FOX takes demo title

A typically quiet summer Sunday night in the Nielsen ratings ended with CBS having the most viewers and FOX scoring the best in the adults 18-49 demographic.

CBS averaged 5.8 million viewers and a 3.6 rating/7 share in households for the night. NBC (4.1 million, 2.7/5) came in second overall, followed by ABC at 3.9 million and 2.4/4. FOX drew 3.5 million viewers and a 2.0/4.

Despite finishing fourth in viewers, FOX led the 18-49 demo with a 1.6 rating. CBS came in second with a 1.4, and ABC and NBC tied for third at 1.0.

Sunday hour by hour:

7 p.m.

CBS:
"60 Minutes" (7.6 million viewers, 4.9/10 households)
ABC: "America's Funniest Home Videos" rerun (5.3 million, 3.1/6)
NBC: "Dateline" (4.7 million, 3.1/6)
FOX: "Sons of Tucson" (1.5 million, 0.9/2)/"American Dad" rerun (2 million, 1.1/2)

18-49 leader: "America's Funniest Home Videos" (1.4)

8 p.m.

CBS:
"Big Brother 12" (7.2 million, 4.3/8)
ABC: "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" rerun (4.4 million, 2.6/5)
NBC: "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (4.25 million, 2.8/5)
FOX: "The Simpsons" rerun (3.8 million, 2.1/4)/"The Cleveland Show" rerun (3.75 million, 2.1/4)

18-49 leader: "Big Brother 12" (2.5)

9 p.m.

FOX:
"Family Guy" reruns - two episodes (4.9 million, 2.9/5)
CBS: "Undercover Boss" rerun (4.7 million, 2.9/5)

Wow those 10pm numbers are tottaly weak! Yet big brother gets over 7 million is awesome! Hopefully, this season will average 7.5 million + and we get a season next year.

Weak #s for everyone except CBS's BB. Cable ratings must be high.

ABC is the biggest loser with all their stinker shows.

Its scary when Family Guy beats the other shows; very telling how primetime summer has nothing to offer. Fred is right the ratings for cable shows are SUPER HIGH and its because their shows have QUALITY.

Last night was all about MAD MEN. AMC blows the networks out of the water when it comes to quality programming.

What is scary is not only ****/Donna/Pierre constantly posting stupid remarks to show what type of intelligence she/they possess, which is none by the way, for ABC's top show to be the home video show is an atrocity in and of itself. That is just sad! ABC sucks bigtime!
