'The View's' Sherri Shepherd joins Katherine Heigl's 'One for the Money'

sherri-shepherd-getty.jpg"View" co-host Sherri Shepherd joins the cast of former "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl's film "One for the Money," based on the popular series by Janet Evanovich.

Shepherd will tackle dual roles, playing two hookers with hearts of gold, according to Variety. In the books, main character Stephanie Plum only has one hooker friend -- big beautiful Lula. There are no details about Shepherd's dual roles but one of them is likely Lula. What would the other one be?

Shepherd joins Heigl, Jason O'Mara (Morelli), Daniel Sunjata (Ranger), John Leguizamo (Jimmy Alpha) and Patrick Fischler (Vinnie Plum) in the "Money" cast. We can't wait to find out who they cast as Grandma Mazur. Might we suggest... Betty White?

Sherri is the person I was thinking about when I was reading the books. The description is dead on!

And for those of us who've never heard of these books, can the article please have plot synopsis? Thank you in advance.

The Janet Evanovich # series of books are hysterical. They center around a single girl (Stephanie Plum) who is from South Jersey (Trenton), and is now working for her cousin, Vinny, as a bounty hunter. She is on-again, off-again with the handsome, stable, Italian Detective, Joe Morelli, but is undeniably attracted to the strong, silent, deadly, dark, sexy Cuban Bounty Hunter, Ranger.

Stephanie is always in a pickle, and Joe or Ranger are always coming to her rescue. Lula is a great side-kick, and grandma Mazur is going to be hysterical, if cast correctly.

Quick, great reads. Very funny, entertaining, and should most definitely be read in order. Once you pick it up, you can't put the book down.

My only wish is that The Rock had been cast as Ranger. And I love Jason O'Mara - but had in the back of my mind thought that Paul Adelstein (Coop, from Private Practice) would also have made a very lovable Morelli.

I cannot WAIT for this movie....and pray all 14 get made!

Tone, I have always pictured someone similar to the Rock as Rangre -- except more wiry than bulky.

I have been telling my hubby that Sheri should play Lula since he said he was working on the movie. He just kept laughing at me. And I was right! He came home and I said "did you hear the news?" he said what. I was like I was so right. Sheri if gonna play Lula! I am so excited. bummed no cameras on set but hey I can say they were in the same room. I am so excited.
And the hubby just laughs at me.

I am SO disappointed in the majority of this casting that I am ALMOST at a loss for words. Is there anyone who has ACTUALLY read these books (because I am convinced that the casting director di NOT) that thinks that first and foremost Katherine Heigl makes a GOOD Stephanie Plum???? Anyone? (I honestly want to know)

These books are so Jersey-centric, and so driven by the characters, that the casting IS very important, and I think they got off to a terrible start. I am very scared to see the final product of this movie. Daniel Sunjata as Ranger? REALLY? smh In a response to previous comment, I hope this madness stops after they've massacred book one, and I'm pretty certain that I'll at least get that much.

And it's sad that the best casting so far HAS been Sherri Shepard, and that's saying something. I've read these books from 1-16, so I am more familiar with the material than most and I have to say at this point....I wish they would've just left it alone. Katherine Heigl is playing freakin' Stephanie Plum. Good grief.

I agree with you Jaina, I have read all 16 books. I love this series. Both my sister and I do, we have both talked about how you can imagine this characters in your head. They have got the casting all wrong. It is actually very hard to imagine any real person in the roles but they need to recast some of it. I like Katherine Heigel, but she is no Stephanie Plum. I think Sandra Bullick would make a better Stephenie Plum. The Rock a better Ranger. The guy they picked for Morelli, he doesn't even look Itailian, come on. My sister and I have always thought these books would make great movies, but with only the right cast. They should really do a reader pole for them to see who we would suggest for casting. I don't want to see a wonderful book series be ruined by a cheezy movie.

No, NO, NOOOO - Niecy Nash should've been Lula!!! And, Kimberly Williams Paisley is the perfect Stephanie - they already messed up casting KH who doesn't even have BLUE eyes and always gives the same performance regardless of the role. It's already a fiasco - except for the parts of Ranger and possibly Morrelli, but I'm not convinced with him either.

I think you all have been waiting for this for far too long. Everyone has been casting these roles in their heads and online for so long, anyone else but who you want will not work.

As for Heigl not having blue eyes, ever heard of contact lenses? Give the actors/actresses a chance. Movies are never as good as a book, this won't be an exception. If you go into the theater thinking it will be, you will be let down.

One last note, I am thrilled that The Rock will not be playing Ranger, he CAN'T act.

Heigl...WHAT?!! No WAY~!!! She will not make a good Stephanie Plum..Besides, all her movies floP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
