'The Event': TV's nicest villain, Zeljko Ivanek, talks about always being evil at Comic-Con
Emmy-winning Zeljko Ivanek sat down with Zap2it during his Comic-Con rounds to talk about his part on NBC's fall conspiracy thriller "The Event" and why he's TV's go-to creep. Given Ivanek's recent track record -- which includes a scheming lawyer on "Damages," an incestuous mad scientist on "Big Love" and a vampire magistrate on "True Blood," -- we're naturally inclined to peg his new role as the bad guy.
Not so fast. The pilot for "The Event" hinges on the ambiguity of a lot of its characters, including Ivanek. He plays C.I.A. director Blake Sterling. And though that job description clearly involves its fair share of secret keeping, there's no evidence yet that his motives aren't pure.
Ivanek knows what his resume might portend for Blake's future, but for now, the real-life nice guy is just thrilled to land a full-time job on one of the fall's most talked-about series, whether he's the villain or not. (Apologies for the extreme close-up, Zeljko)
