'Psych': Dulé Hill talks about the series' future, new episodes
Now in season 5, "Psych" is one of USA's most established shows. But with so much love falling on the boys of "Burn Notice," "Royal Pains" and "White Collar," fans wonder how much longer the series will stick around.
Star James Roday and creator Steve Franks don't see an end in sight. Dulé Hill, on the other hand, wonders about the end-game. "As long as the fans are tuning in, then USA will keep picking us up," the actor tells Fancast. And just because the show keeps going, doesn't necessarily mean Hill will always be along for the ride.
"I would say after season 5, I would say in the next two seasons, you might see Gus go bye-bye," he says. "Two or three seasons at the most, I'd be surprised if it got to three but who knows."
Could there even be a "Psych" without the repartee between Hill and Roday? It's not a pretty thought. But at least it's one we don't have to worry about for a while.
"Psych" is only one episode in to the new season. And those disappointed that Hill didn't get much love on the July 14 premiere can take comfort knowing that's not the case when the theater-trained actor shows off his dancing skills on July 21. Gus and Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) both sign up for tap classes in "Feet Don't Kill Me Now," meaning dancing will somehow be required in catching the killer of the week.

The whole show is Shawn & Gus - without one, there is no show left. Not even USA would be dumb enough to try and jump that shark...Let's enjoy the years we have left with the both of them....
No!!!! There can be no Psych without Dule Hill! If he decides to leave the show at any point, then I think that should be the last season. I absolutely adore Psych, but it wouldn't be the same without Gus.
Love this show! I'm not sure it could survive without the Shawn/Gus duo. Here is to enjoying the next 2-3 years! :-)
I agree, the show couldn't continue without the comradere (sp?) of Dule and James. They seem to be friends even outside of the show. Their characters have a natural blend of humor that can't be faked. They play so well off each other and are perfect foils to each other's reparte.
I love the show but don't see why one actor leaving should be the end of it even if it's one of the main characters. Try something else, and I just hope this isn't some long term ploy for more money!
This is one of my favorite shows too, and would hate to lose Gus, but I also think it could go on with the addition of perhaps a FEMALE partner? I know, then it might become Moonlighting, but hey--I still miss that series too! Wherever these two actors go in the future with the series or their lives, I'm sure they will be followed by lots of fans!
Eh, his character could die and Shawn work with jules more.
I love Dule Hill, and I think after 7 seasons (that would be the 2ish he would be talking about), it seems like the right time to move on IF he needs to. Every actor needs to refresh and try something new. He did "The West Wing" for 7 years and if he did "Psych" for 7, he could create a new show called "7", that would last 5 years ;)
There is no Psych without Gus and their bromance (Gus & Shawn's as well as, I suspect, Dule & James') is the best one on television and definitely one for the t.v. history books!!!
Oh, no! ):
I don't want to see him go, but at least we have some time left. And if that's what he really wants, then I won't argue. But if they try to go on without Gus, I'll definitely try watching it for a while, instead of giving up on it.
