Emmys finally show 'Friday Night Lights' leads some love

friday-night-lights-emmy-nods.jpgAfter four seasons of the flying under the radar, most fans have counted "Friday Night Lights" out of the running for any big Emmy nominations (no offense to the show's casting team).

So imagine our surprise when both Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler were announced as contenders in the lead actress and lead actor in a drama categories Thursday (July 8).

"FNL" has been a critical darling since it debuted in 2006, and most of that love has been aimed squarely at Chandler and Britton's portrayals of Eric and Tami Taylor, the perfect couple who share an unflappable moral compass and TV's most appealing parental P.D.A..

This marks Britton's first Emmy nomination, despite a lengthy resume that includes four seasons on "Spin City," but it's Chandler's second. He was nominated for his guest role as an ill-fated bomb squad leader on "Grey's Anatomy" in 2006.

And Britton and Chandler aren't the only "FNL" folks in the running for this year's Emmys. The show scored a total of four nominations, with another nod for casting for a drama (it's been nominated three times in that category and won once) and a first-time acknowledgment for writing (for Robin Jones' script for "The Son").

Think Chandler and Britton have snowball's chance in hell of winning? And do you daydream about being adopted by their alter egos? Sound off in the comments.

I love so many of the nominees this year, usually its just one show/actor in each category. These two absolutely deserve these wins even though I'd love to see it go to Fox and Margulies as well.

The year they finally nominate Kyle Chandler is the same year Matthew Fox gave me chills in the last few minutes of Lost...I have chills again now just thinking about it...Kyle is long overdue but Fox was amazing this year...this is tough! but I'm sure they will both lose to one of the other less deserving people but I am happy for them both.

Bryan Cranston has the lead actor EMMY won. I would love for Kyle to win it though!

I'm delighted to see Connie and Kyle nominated, something that is long overdue. But I'm so disappointed that Zach Gilford has been overlooked for his performance in 'The Son'. How it can get a nod for its writing (rightly so) but ignore Gilford is beyond me.

ZACH GILFORD...

That one episode alone should have given him a easy nod..that episode made me go and watch the first 3 seasons lol..if you havent seen it, watch it Season 04-Episode 05

anyway SOO Happy for Chandler & Britton though...still shocking they haven't been nominated before.

Kyle and Connie were so deserving. I'm also thrilled about the other two nominations. It is too bad that the series and supporting cast were snubbed.

Love FNL and love that they got nominated.
Hope Hope hope they win

F N L is so much better than people give it credit for. I am surprised JettaJAMES isn't on here bashing such a "testosterone-driven" show. Seeing that he is a lesbian/gay man
