"Inception" finally loosens its grip on the U.S. box office -- but not by much.

Paramount's "Dinner for Schmucks" bested the two-week-old champ at Friday's box office, despite tepid reviews and the trailers' obvious warning of ventriloquy humor, with $8.3 million haul, reports Deadline.

The other two new entries thought to be in contention for this weekend's title, "Charlie St. Cloud" and "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore," came in fourth and sixth respectively, failing to approach "Inception's" close second and "Salt's" third.

and thus begins the decline of zac efron.....High School Musical 4 anyone????

I don't think this spells the decline of Zac Efron. It's just not the kind of movie for everyone. Rachel McAdams is still going strong after The Time Traveler's Wife, another movie with an odd supernatural twist.
