'Damages' lives ... if you have DirecTV
The good news for "Damages" fans: The show has been renewed for two more seasons. The bad news: You may have to change your TV provider to see it.The Emmy-nominated FX series will live on, but not at its original home. It's now the exclusive property of DirecTV's 101 Network.
There had been rumblings that the satellite provider would help prop up the show, which has suffered declining ratings over its second and third seasons. The deal calls for two 10-episode seasons in the summers of 2011 and 2012.
DirecTV and Sony Pictures TV, which produces the show, say stars Glenn Close and Rose Byrne -- both Emmy nominees this year -- will be back, but they're the only regulars mentioned in the joint press release. (It does say that "other principal cast members" will also return.)
Unlike the DirecTV-NBC partnership on "Friday Night Lights," "Damages" won't get a second broadcast window on FX or anywhere else, which means its potential audience is going to shrink. DirecTV has about 19 million subscribers; FX reaches 90 million-plus homes.
FX is wishing the show well in its new home: "FX was very proud to have developed one of the best scripted series on television, but in order to have a future, the show needed DirecTV and we are thrilled they stepped in," FX president and general manager John Landgraf says. "Sony Pictures Television is a great production partner and we at FX Productions are excited for these next two seasons."

yea good thing i dont watch it i wouldnt switch to directv anyways
I have DirecTV, but I don't watch Damages or the 101 Network. Now, if they went and rescued Better Off Ted, then, I will definitely watch!!!!!
I don't get FX (it's on a more expensive package), I also have Dish Network. I would be pissed if I was a fan of the show since I would not switch providers just for one show. Also, what is up with it doing mini-seasons? 20 episodes for 2 seasons is an average of only 10 episodes per season. Even 13 episodes is a short season.
Great news! I love the 101 network.. I just started watching The Wire" and now one of my favorite shows will be on there too
Shut up Smitty. Go do your 2nd grade math HW!
Bummer...Love the show but no way I'll switch to satellite. I agree with Arlene and am hoping for DVD's.
I am teed off putting it nicely. I watched it from day 1 and no way will I switch to satellite. I got sosmy people yo watch the show that loved it. This really stinks for those who did watch it faithfully it is a stab in the back to offer more episodes only to a certain group. I seriously hope the ratings suck to see what a horrible decision they made both rose b. and glen close did a great job. Sorry I have to wish them poorly now
I just got FIOS, Verizon. No way am I switching to anything else, though I will miss 'Damages,' and am very glad to hear someone appreciates interesting drama. Maybe one day it'll go to DVD?
Shut up Rob go do your meth homework lol
Boooo!! Hissss! Why would they sign w/a provider that gets a fraction of viewers. This is stupid on a lot of fronts. Oh well, at least the season finale was well written enough to work as a series finale too. I have closure. Thanks for the memories, Damages. Good luck in all your future endeavors, show.
