TV of Tomorrow: Fall TV Preview 2010

'CSI: NY' adds Sela Ward as an investigator transplanted from D.C.

sela-ward-getty-csi-ny.jpgSela Ward ("Sisters," "Once and Again," "House") joins the cast of "CSI: NY" following the recent (and somewhat unexpected) departure of star Melina Kanakeredes.

Ward will play an experienced investigator from Washington D.C. whose work is driven by her empathy for the victims. Her first appearance will be in the season premiere.

"We are delighted to have Sela joining 'CSI: NY,'" said executive producer Pam Veasey. "With the exciting stories planned for Season 7, she'll be a dynamic addition to the cast and the team."

"I am thrilled to be working with Gary [Sinise] and this terrific group of people," said War. "I'm a huge fan."

Ward is no stranger to the small screen, as she has won Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for "Sisters" (1994) and "Once and Again" (2000). She also had a recurring role on "House" and starred in the TV bio-pic of reporter Jessica Savitch.

"CSI:NY" is moving to Friday nights at 9 p.m. in the fall.

Wow, that was fast...Nasty!

TV is evil. You cling to the veil of illusion to your own destruction.

How exactly is grandma going to boost ratings?

Wow, that was fast! Nasty..!

I am happy nasty Melina is gone, Diva ought she was all that since she was on the lowly rated Guilding Light and boring Provedance. Now at 43yo OLD she thinks she can be a movie star, sad. Good for Sela for being nice and taking the part, while 200K wasnt enogh money for the curly haired tv wanna be diva.

Nothing against CSI, but Sela Ward deserves to be on something muchmore creative and challenging than a procedural.

Why isn't Showtime offering her a show?

Nothing against the casting choices, but I hate it when they try to explain the character in a police show as some sort of transfer from another agency. This simply doesn't happen with local police officers (unless you're hired as the chief). Maybe if the show were a federal agency, since it's the same agency nationwide. They did the same thing with Munch on SVU (from Homicide). It's those little details that bug me (although they probably shouldn't!).

NO NO NO!! SELA YOU CAN DO MUCH BETTER!! You have Emmys, Your a Great Actress, get out of this TRASH!! Run Sela Run!!

What can I say... there are so many CSI's I can barely tell them apart. They each have the same elements.

1. UST- unresolved sexual tension, whether real or imagined between the characters.

2. Unrealistic lab scenes. Usually where the UST plays out. Seriously, when your hooch is hoisted right out of your blouse and your hair teased to perfection, HOW are the tests they perform NOT CONTAMINATED????

3. No consistency - exactly how many white rich spoiled brats have they 'convicted and put away'.
But when the characters go to visit 'jail' to talk to an informant, the population is mainly hulking black dudes. Where are the white chicks and dudes they 'put away for a long time'. Does that mean house arrest??

5. Cookie cutter shows - basically every storyline and show is the same. I could describe any storyline and you would have a hard time distinguishing which show I was talking about.

Maybe murder isn't as sexy as tv producers believe?

I remember a show that focused on the Miscellanious Affairs division of the government that I never missed. It was called Adderly.

Somebody google it. Please.

So, is Sela Ward talented? Yes.

Will she breathe new life into the show? No possibility of success.

But as always, if I"m stuck inside when it's raining, I'll watch it if it's on.

I love Sela Ward and I have to say that CSI NY would be worth watching now, at least for me. She is an outstanding actress and her talent deserves to be watched by millions and millions of people.
However, I wonder when she will have her own show again. Sisters and Once and Again were amazing.
Sela, you are missed and it would be a delight to see you on a weekly basis.
