Garcia is one of the main reasons to watch CM. As long as pulling double-duty doesn't reduce her role on CM in any way, I think this is a great thing -- especially if it means a pay raise for Kirsten Vangsness!
I've never understood why CBS (or any network) has wanted to have multiple versions of the SAME show airing each week.
It burned me out on "CSI", but that's not the only reason I stopped watching "CSI" in any version... it's because I prefer a cop show to have different kinds of cases each week. "Criminal Minds" might focus on murders too, but at least theirs are pulled off with better style and quality.
Back to my point... why the "spin-offs"? A real spin-off gives you a show that differs from the original, like "Mork & Mindy" did from "Happy Days" and "The Jefferson's" from "All in the Family". What CBS does with "CSI" and now "Criminal Minds" is churn out the exact same show 2 or 3 times a week, the only difference being a new cast and location.
Doesn't this burn through the story ideas quicker?? When you have a hit on your hands wouldn't you rather it hang around longer? Run out of ideas by using them all up faster on 2 or 3 versions of the show and the series run is cut short. Instead of running for say 12 seasons (or more) the original might end in about 9.
OK maybe that won't happen, but it could and runs the risk of burn out for the fans... get too much of a show and you may tire of it, like I did with "CSI".
