Conan O'Brien 'Tonight Show' gets Emmy nod; Jay Leno doesn't
Who's Team Coco? That would be the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences members. "The Tonight Show" with host Conan O'Brien -- not Jay Leno -- received four Emmy nominations Thursday morning (July 8), a bittersweet recognition after such ugly controversy.
After NBC gave him the boot, the network could be in the position to air his Emmy acceptance speech during the live telecast on Sunday, Aug. 29.
Coco's "The Tonight Show" was nominated for outstanding variety, music or comedy series, its directing, writing and art direction. O'Brien's "Tonight Show" is up against "The Colbert Report," "The Daily Show," "Real Time With Bill Maher" and "Saturday Night Live."
Late night nemesis Leno was nowhere to be found among the nominees -- neither for "The Jay Leno Show" nor his version of "The Tonight Show." Ouch.
Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is shedding a tear ... for him to poop on.

Payback's a *****, ain't it, NBC?
Well this just shows they'll give an award to any loser with a lame *** sob story. NBC realized what I've known for a while now, HE"S NOT FUNNY!!!
Clay, you're right.....he's NOT funny. Never has been, never will be. He's a whiner, too.
I do question the thinking process of individuals that consider Leno more funny than O' Brien. I almost feel pity for their ignorance. And take away the hosts, even Conan's skits were a hundred times funnier.
Can't wait for his new show. Go Conesies!
Conan is a comedic genius. He is way more talented and funny than the bland Jay Leno.
I am so happy for Conan!!! I really hope he takes home the gold.
You can give coco all the accolades but Jay is still... King Samir http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhYL-gmPdwg
Hugh Laurie deserves the Emmy award. He has the unique distinction, among all of the Drama Actor nominees, of having done work in drama that is amazing enough to be nominated by Emmy for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Award, for FIVE YEARS - 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.
It's about getting the opportunity to do good work, but it is also about consistent excellence.
This season's opener "Broken" won the Writers' Guild of America's Television Award for Episodic Drama, and Hugh was in front of the camera over 90% of the time in that episode. Even the best writing for the screen needs an exceptional actor to interpret it. HUGH LAURIE IS THAT ACTOR, AND IT'S ABOUT TIME.
