'Brothers & Sisters' EP on next season being its last, 'No one has told me'
We've all been on deathwatch when it comes to ABC's "Brothers & Sisters." The network ordered a reduced season, the show has been plagued with budgetary issues, and the loss of key members like Rob Lowe and Emily VanCamp. Even the lead actors seem ready for a final season.Yet, executive producer, David Marshall Grant, tells EW that it's news to him. "No one has told me that it's the last season," says Grant.
While some are seeing next year's one-year fast forward in time as possibly "jumping the shark," Grant sees it as a much needed shot in the arm for the series that could lead to more seasons.
"I'm actually looking at this season as a fresh beginning," he says. "That's one of the things you can do when you jump a year. I want to put [our characters] in fresh and different places, and hopefully that will have legs."
What are your thoughts on "Brothers & Sisters" surviving after next season?

This one year jump will definitely help rejuvenate the series, as long as the writers don't screw it up like the DH writers did with their time jump. The B&S lead actors may be burnt out and tired, but I think they would be on board for more seasons, if they get a bit of a reduced working schedule this year. Most of them are getting at least 1-2 of the 18 episodes off so that should help them recharge.
The show isn't as great as it used to be but it definitely hasn't reached the point of no return yet. There are still plenty more stories to be told. What they need to do this season is to liven the stories up a bit. Season 4 was so dark and depressing and filled with tragedy, who wants to watch that in today's world? There's enough negativity going on in this country we want to see the Walkers enjoying life, when we join them on Sunday nights.
It's got 2 seasons left in it for sure...could it end after season 6? There would be enough eps. for syndication.
