TV of Tomorrow: Fall TV Preview 2010
'Bones': How the cast reunites in the season premiere
Last time we saw "Bones," the Jeffersonian crew parted ways at an airport, with Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) going off to opposite ends of the earth to pursue their respective loves of do-goodery and corpse probing.
And they never saw each other again.
Um, clearly not. Everyone on "Bones" will probably reunite in the first five minutes of the season 6 premiere, but how much time has passed and what brings them back together are the variables at play. Until now. SPOILERS AHEAD.
EW chatted with "Bones" executive producer Stephen Nathan, dispelling rumors that the new season will pick up one year after the events of the last. No, the one-year jump is a desperate move. "Bones" is content with only seven months.
As for the circumstances of the reunion, apparently it's to save their buddy Cam (Tamara Taylor). Unsurprisingly, her job performance falls behind without a crack team at her disposal, and when one super-stumper of a case puts her position at the Jeffersonian in the balance, Booth and Brennan come to her rescue.
And we're guessing they're not just bringing back novelty souvenirs in their baggage -- right? (We mean emotions.)

Well...Dollhouse had two seasons, lets see how many more this stinker has.
Come on people, writers are the show. Make up with them. And for the LOVE OF GOD, SOMEBODY KILL SWEETS!
Maybe they should all be killed in some future date and the seasons told in Masterpiece Theatre style by Gordon Gordon.
Now THAT I would tune in for.
What are you talking about? Bones is one of the best procedurals on TV...Dollhouse on the other hand...welll...
Matt, are you serious? Best procedural on TV? LMFAO You're too funny. It's not ever a procedural, anymore. It's a "crimedy" or some crap like that, per Hart. If the writers can actually write real stories and not fanfiction for S6, then maybe it can become a procedural again.
God, I hope this is the last season. All the actors deserve better than this. This show used to be so good. It's just a HUGE trainwreck, now. Has been for the past two seasons.
I'm thrilled for the new season! When the separation rumblings first occured, I originally guessed that it'd only be a 7-monthish separation as opposed to a year, and I'm glad to hear that that's how it's playing out. It'll bring a new and interesting element to an already fabulous show, and I can't wait to see how they all come together and just how the reunion--Booth/Brennan and otherwise--plays out. Season 6, you're on!
figured it would be as-planned year time jump or something that would force them back.. glad it was the latter
Bones is coming back? My wife and I quit watching last year. Castle is a lot better, actually featuring intelligent writing.
Why are you bothering to read posts about Bones if you hate it so much? Do us all a favor and just skip on to something you like. As for me, I love Bones and I like Sweets, too. So there.
Uh, I believe this is a place to post responses--BOTH POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE--on shows that attract the attention of whoever wishes to write in. This is NOT a fansite, as there are plenty of those enough already. Like Bones if you wish, don't like Bones if you choose...either way, all are (and SHOULD BE) welcome to reply. Unless somebody flushed freedom of speech down the commode while I was sleeping last night.
As to the crux of the debate, I agree completely that Bones has been floundering creatively. The mess after the writers' strike ended has not been completely rectified. Some episodes the past couple seasons were absolute gems, granted, but most have just been meh. The incessant romantic entanglements and crap just clutters up what used to be a great show. As long as the writers keep pumping out puppy-love garbage, the show will continue to suffer.
Now will I continue to watch it? Sure. With rare exceptions (*cough* Heroes *cough*), I don't abandon shows just because they're aren't as good as they used to be. Bones is one of those that I'll watch to the end.
I've watched the show from the beginning and largely have enjoyed it (despite H Hanson's failure to deliver on believable "big episodes" ie. season 4 finale - and was very disappointed in the weak S5 "let's reset everything after a year" finale - a weak finish to a ok season.... which was designed mainly to milk the URST angle some more - just make a decison to do/not do it and go with it - even if they don't get together, then the writers can focus on solid storylines pertaining to the cases as opposed to all the romantic storylines which this show has all but focused on... the procedural part used to be pretty interesting, but it's become more of a soap opera since S3....
I'm with the haters. This show used to be wonderful, on the edge or your seat guessing til the end procedural, then it became a boring soap opera like "House" and lost any edge it had. (The show started steamrolling downhill about the same time Deschanel and Boreanez became producers.)
