'Being Human': Nina almost didn't make it to Season 2
Any doubts about Nina (Sinead Keenan) catching boyfriend George's were-fever cleared up quite quickly on the Season 2 premiere of "Being Human."
Come the first full moon, both characters went through the gruesome change. (We're not saying "True Blood" is tame in any respect, but they did cop out a bit on the wolves.)
So how do the once happy couple handle it? Guilt-ridden George (Russell Tovey) has hate-sex with an obnoxious vampire, and Nina turns cold and distant, opting only for the company of Annie (Lenora Crichlow). And that's before the big reveal. What semblance of emotional balance George has goes out the window when Nina shows him the scars on her arm where he scratched her, condemning her to a life of painful canine transformations and countless torn outfits.
A downer, yes, but the confrontation showcased two of the best performances yet in a show marked by a talented cast. And to think it almost didn't happen.
When Zap2it sat down with the cast and creator Toby Whithouse at Comic-Con, they revealed that Nina wasn't originally intended to stick around. Keenan just fit in so well, Whithouse decided to keep her on.
