'American Idol' tour cancels on several cities, but is coming to 'GMA'
The "American Idol" Season 9 tour isn't doing as well as expected -- there were previous reshufflings and possible cancellations taking place. But now it looks like the cancellations are official. The following dates/venues are listed as "cancelled" on Live Nation, the tour organizer:
Aug. 26, Qwest Center, Omaha, NE
Aug. 27, Sprint Center, Kansas City, MO
Sept. 7, MTS Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Sept. 9, Air Canada Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Sept. 10, HSBC Arena, Buffalo, NY
Sept. 11, Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland, OH
Sept. 16, Cumberland County Civic Center, Portland, ME
The eighth possible canceled date is Aug. 21 in Porland, OR. That is listed as canceled on the "American Idol" official site but not listed as canceled on the Live Nation site.
What a bummer for the people at those venues who DID buy tickets, though. But they can still catch their favorite Idols on the "Good Morning America" summer concert series. Friday, July 9th, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. ET the "Idol" top 10 finalists will perform live on "GMA."

Sorry haven't was GMA since they cancelled Adam after AMA's and will not watch their shown until they rectify their mistake!!!!
This news isn't surprising. This was the least watched season of Idol thus far and had the worst talent in recent memory(I'm lookin' at you Tim, Casey, Siobahn(?), Andrew, Didi & gay country kid).
now if they can cancel the whole thing ... we can sleep better at night
Jetta, Tim and Andrew were bad. I did not like Casey but he isn't bad just boring. However, Didi and Siobhan were two of the best this season and should have been on longer, along with Kaite. All the girls got screwed over this season. I don't think it was a bad season, I think tptb tried to push the singer/songwriter angle too much and America rejected it and we ended up with a non deserving winner for the second season in a row.
Like most fads (and American Idol is one), the shelf life is limited. This past season will probably be the last of the ridiculously-high ratings, since its core audience is growing up and finding other things to do. Lowering the age to 15 will not bring in better singers, just more bad ones. FOX was stupid to renew the show for multiple seasons, and their ratings will show this over the next couple years. That's how it is when something gets over-exposed.
American Idol is over, let us rejoice and be glad with it!
